i'm going to wait for the sale. i assume the tweaks to the AI and all the other stuff that was gone that was not BNW related are available to non-expansion pack users?

BNW is on sale on steam for $20 right now. Might go lower over the course of the sale, though.

shoshone are probably my new favorite civ. i HATED getting stupid map/barbarian reveals from ruins. pathfinders let you pick what you get! not every ruin can give you every bonus, but you can always find something more interesting than map/barb/equipment

i just picked it up for the sale price today, can't ignore a 33% discount on a game that less then a week old. especially one that i was probably going to cave and pay full price for anyway.

I paid full price for it the day before the sale

I normally chew out anyone who doesn't wait til the last day of sales to buy things, but I did the exact same thing yesterday because I figured there would be no way something on the market for like 3 days would go on sale.

Heck, on a similar note, I normally also chew out entitled people who get mad when DLC gets sold cheaper one day one to people who buy complete bundles (key word here) as an incentive to get some extra sales on the older content ... because it's still a higher total sale for the seller. But to sell an expansion with a 33% discount 3 days after the people you convinced to pre-order it pays full price ... that's kind of a bitch slap to them. I'm not personally mad, but for once I agree the people raging on the forums actually have a right to be.

Edit: Haha, actually for Europeans, since it unlocked at midnight due to their Friday release schedule ... some of them literally haven't had a chance to download their pre-orders before the sale occurred. That's actually hilarious.

i wonder if they can lay claim to the sale if they write in to support. i also wonder who's pushing the sale, steam or firaxis and who's taking the hit on the revenue.

BTW: first impressions are pretty good, liking the trade routes so far, seems like an interesting way of generating gold. the tenents are pretty cool way of expanding on the policies, congress is also pretty cool if you are good with city states and are able to found the congress by discovering all the civ's first, u get some pretty strong control of the world if you can maintain control and keep many city states as delegates.

Did you preorder it? They're sending out free copies of Civ 4 to everyone who preordered the game and missed out on the summer sale.
