My adoration of Gaga is that she analyzes the celebrity (as the intangible aura, not a particular person that is a celebrity), and makes fun of it, and exploits it all at the same time. She's briliant.

He spent most of the 1980s and 90s as an outcast, though in a different manner: while Gaga expresses it by singing songs and wearing extravagant costumes, he did lots of drugs and drank excessively. His outlet now is radio -- he does a morning drive show in Philadelphia for 94.1 WYSP. In fact, I'm a listener. It's not particularly life-fulfilling to those that hear it, but it's an outlet for him to talk about his own life and happenings while doing something he loves.

Also my point wasn't to compare those two people exclusively, just to make the point that the entire aspect of "celebrity" is to do exactly what you praise her for -- exploit the system for as much as is possible. The two do share the trait of becoming self-parodies, though: they do crazy things because they're expected to do crazy things.
