Possible to use a linksy wifi adapter with a netgear router?

I'm trying to use this USB linksys wifi adapter on my little brothers laptop but its not working i tried using the install CD and still no go :/

What is not working? any errors? cannot connect to router or driver not installing?
The only compatibility problems I know of with different brand gear is with early wireless N spec stuff. because they were made before the wireless N spec was finished so companies kinda just did their own thing.

ya that was the problem the linksys guy said :/ so looks like im buying a new usb wifi adapter lol. idk why my lil bro didnt just get one built in when he built is laptop xD.
