I said I already have the mule. My question is entirely about what'll happen if I try deleting the mule/changing my name before they're forced to change their name, because from the looks of it the guy on Remora with this name does not log in (or at least sell/buy stuff over the AH) very often.

It'll tell them they have to change their name, but they can put in the name again and if it's available at that time, then it's theirs.

When I moved to Fairy I had a mule there with my name and moved both at the same time. It told me I had to pick a new name even though I knew it was no longer taken. I just typed the same name and it went through.
