New Add-on Series "Abyssea" Announced! (02/28/2010)

An announcement was made today at VanaFest 2010 for "Abyssea," an all-new three-part series of battle-oriented add-ons.

A parallel world existing beside Vana'diel, Abyssea is a land fraught with perils and home to savage hordes of heretofore unseen creatures. Ferocious, towering NMs, new-look HNMs?even the garden varieties will confound would-be challengers with their unfamiliar and formidable powers. These and a whole host more await hapless adventurers with open arms and voracious maws.

In Abyssea, concerns such as the over-population of battle areas and the need for large time investments will be a thing of the past. The development team is hard at work creating a world where parties can engage in rewarding battles with powerful foes and collect prized equipment with the least of fuss.

They don't look any more yawn worthy than WotG, and I paid for that too. I don't mind dropping a few bucks on the first to see if they learned from the mistakes of the first set.

Looks like Abyssea is going to be a straight up dungeon crawl type event for new gear to wear while leveling to 80! Ha, I'm pretty sure they realized fetch quests was a gay gay thing in the past addons. I think the emphasis will be action over story.

I really hope the new areas will be as crazy as post game dungeon in star ocean or valkyrie profile. I want to see some insanely powerful crap like 2 Absolute virtue next to each other, or 3 bahamut with 12 wyrms.

It is, but when you compare the price tag of previous mini expansion versus what you normally get in a complete expansion, the content is a little overpriced.


If I'm paying 15$ for 10 hours worth of real mission (not retarded farming), 3 endgame area and an increased level cap, count me in. If I'm paying 15$ to unlock a level cap and fight 3 reskinned monster in south gustaberg....I don't know...
