    raising lvl cap and raising existing mobs doesn't make any sense. either they put a lvl cap on certain events (dyna, limbus etc.) or not. people were crying years for a kings fix, here it is: make them obsolete, add new content. who cares if tiamat becomes the new roc, if you can get gaiters+2 from a lvl 99 instance.

    Unless it specifically says that Lv99 will be exclusive to new areas, get ready for it to be allowed everywhere.

    To me this means new content and all around new challenges. Think about it. There is only so much you can do with the variety of mobs at level 75 that it just starts to become repetitive.

    This is a second beginning for ffxi imo. Everyone is getting another chance to play this game. Think about it in a few months everyone will be max level again going against brand new content that none of us know anything about. That journey is what I think SE wanted to regive to the players of ffxi. Remember the feeling when your LS was the only LS to ever kill xxxxx mob. Well think of that feeling all over again. I don't think things will be push over easy for much longer.

This, to me, is exciting.
    Completely agree. The idea of possibly leaving old content behind and moving on to new stuff with friends is something I'm really looking forward to.

    New camping grounds are scheduled to be added to cater to the anticipated rise in demand for experience parties. Furthermore, the redistribution of monsters in existing areas is also under consideration.
    Some things might, however the bold could only mean for shit like AV/PW for all we know. Either way I'm going to wait and see what happens.

    Wow, as a Red Mage it seems like SE is destroying my job. They want to add enfeebling abilities to other jobs and raising the level cap is going to give any job Refresh and Convert. Good thing they already made Scholar what Red Mage should have been as far as a caster goes, what are they going to do to balance that? :/

    Every update I see from SE pisses me off more than the last, they are slowly becoming blizzard, which was a great company till WoW came around. While FFXI hasn't had quite the success as WoW(monetarily speaking) it was a big success for the company and it has gone to their heads. While the level 99 decision was most likely not a whim, it was still a bad decision. They are tweaking new content instead of fixing all the problems with old content and it saddens me.
    Its like saying I'm going to make the pain in your foot go away by hitting you in the head.

    From what they said I assume they're going to alter abilities and spells such as Convert and Refresh such that they don't completely break job balance. Perhaps they'll make Convert a 2:1 HP:MP ratio when subbing RDM or something similar.

    Don't feel too bad, assuming they raise the cap to 80 > 90 > 99 in each update, we still get to refresh people until September. At which point SCH will make RDM obsolete as backline party support, PUP will be given more potent debuffs to make it useful at endgame, and RDM will get a new sword and Enlight to fill the void PUP left.

    Do they take effect at lvl 75? or are they stripped till you reach cap again?

    Refresh II, Haste II, Para III, Slow III, Dia IV, Bio IV, Phalanx III, T4 Nukes, Fast Cast IV, MAB3, Cure V...not to mention new spells, abilities, and merits.

    Far from broken I'd imagine.

    Inb4 everyone levels DD jobs to 99 and leaves their mage jobs at 75 so they dont have to be mage.

    And ill kill a basket full of kittens if i see BLM level 82-99 by subbing RDM and being a refresher/healer.

    I just don't see how they expect merits to factor into this. Especially given that so many of them are logical extensions of the job by that level. Are we going to earn both limit and XP points? More likely, have to do both?

    They'll have to do an awful lot to actually differentiate mage jobs when everyone can get Cure IV, Refresh, Haste, Convert, etc from subjob.

    Also seems like it's only asking for double trouble with current not-so-instanced content like Dynamis. They're merging servers, -then- basically making that into mass-killing Too Weak mobs? Good luck getting in.

    It really seems like this creates more issues to be solved than SE has been addressing in the game period in the last year or so.
