get my name out ya mouf
i for one welcome our 3,000,000 exp overlords
smn burn parties, go.
Yes SE, give me gay and glittery vampire colibri <3
They wouldn't have to change any actual programming, spawn points and monster stats are just data, which is far easier (though boring and time consuming) to change.tl;dr: I see lv 75+ only being available in certain areas, designed for this increased level cap. the amount of reprogramming required otherwise would be immense.
Should've created the thread with a poll. Interested in seeing initial #s of approve/appose.
I hope w/e they do they create "Abyssea" un-capped and the rest of Vana'diel capped to 75, or not touch skills and stats (which I think might happen) that way they won't screw up...
So I guess Relic weapons are gonna be 2nd class now. I had fun with my Apoc. Wonder whats coming next. I dunno what raising the cap to 99 is gonna do overall. But i'm sure people that thought relics were the end all are gonna be pretty pissed. All them Aegis gonna probably turn into trash.

Enhancing a Weapon
A Trial of the Magians weapon enhancement quest can be initiated by first trading a suitable weapon to a Magian Moogle NPC, at which point a list of corresponding quests will be displayed. Players may choose a quest based on difficulty level and the enhancement they would like added to their weapon, which will be granted upon the fulfillment of the quest objective.
blah, blah, blah
There are also plans to make it possible to enhance Relic and Mythic weapons through Trial of the Magians. While players can expect quest difficulty to far exceed similar quests released thus far, we are confident the rewards will make it more than worth the while!
Implementing changes might not take long, like Kae said it's not really programming, just tedious.
But the changes need to be balanced, which is a whole different beast. Many people are pointing out the total exp curve/exp per mob, it works fine for 75, but they had to fix it once, and scaling it out to 99 shows something pretty daunting.
And relationship formulas like that are all through the game. Someone pointed out the whole eva/blink vs. blood tanking thing a bit back, while NIN/DNC, PLD/DNC may work, I can assure you THF/DNC can't hold up. And if you remember how SE has been messing with campaign balance for quite a while, you had swings of npcs too tough, too weak, mobs too tough, too weak. Adjusting stats/levels doesn't mean much when it's the formulas that are the issue.
While it isn't programming, it is some unpleasant math to do.
If I can start bloodtanking again I will be very happy.
Probably won't work though.

The colibri of Abyssea!
A question I just thought of was that what will happen to those who obtained spells with merit points? Will those spells be improved or will they just be wasted merit points as other spells above 75 will do more damage?
What happened to people who paid 2m for flood? I think its the same here. They might still have their use though depending of the cooldown/cast time of future spell.
Why would you want that? I never understood what was fun about blood tanking. You use one ability every 20-30 secs and then, nothing. Being able to blink tank properly at least required some timing and you constantly have to pay attention to the monster, I find it much more involving.
I don't think SquareEnix balance the game as much as people think. There is such a wide gap between different species I have hard time believing monsters are "fine tuned" individually.
I'm not saying simply writting "lv 99" in the level slot would fix every balance issues because it depend of how they handle every other aspects, but I'm certain it's not a complicated task, or remotely long if you only change the monsters at a few locations.
Some people don't find "busyclickingallthetimeomgsoclose100%brainenga ged" enjoyable. You might, but not everyone is you. This is why there are multiple jobs. You like playing a certain way, you play that job.
Also, a thief straight evades hits, a ninja sidesteps hits by paying gil for shihei, a paladin takes the hits but blunts them, that's how it's supposed to work.
But the mobs have been hitting so goddamn hard, that paladins can't do what they are supposed to. That's a problem.
(I've also my own axe to grind over the 20% to hit minimum, if a PLD can't eat hits well, a paper def THF is gonna get raped even with a 80% evade rate. And that's not even bringing in sure hit monster abilities. But this is a digression)
You have my agreement there.
But not there.
