What is "traditional" meant to imply? You still use "tank parties" for most HNM today, you simply swap out <insert outdated tank here> for DRK/SAM/WAR.
What you keep describing sounds like a zerg setup and the last time I was playing the most common fights to be zerged were BahamutV2, Sarameya, Kirin, DL, KV, and maybe Love. Maybe your LS does a lot of your fights like that but I felt far from outdated when I was playing pld during LS events and I really doubt things have changed that much. I'd really like to see the changes they apply to each job and what the new HNMs and events are like though before really arguing over what's outdated to be honest.

Atonement and Excalibur helped the playerbase realize that a tank's role shouldn't be limited to holding your target's attention. Beyond that, the more proactive players have simply applied this concept to jobs that really just aren't that defensively different from paladin, but leaps and bounds ahead of the job in terms of overall damage.

tl;dr: Take whatever "tank party" setup you were using before, and replace the PLD with a DRK/NIN. Voila, you just became more efficient.

This, please. Dispelling 30 buff is just an hassle. althought,

Isn't reviviscence the move that remove weakness in campaign? I forgot. Anyway, something that remove weakness would be great.

Khimaira is hardly worth it as is. You made my specific statement into a general one; it's not what I said at all.

Also those are all 79+, they'd still aggro.

I picked the most useful item out of the 3 listed mobs. You made a blanked response asking why anyone would walk through Mire basically. If anything, I am actually being more specific than you, though I added a separate generalization to the beginning of my post.

Either the other two were added after I posted, or I stopped reading after Khimaira because of lulz.

If something is hitting you too fast to time ichi, it's going to rip through your 3 shadows in a matter of seconds anyway. Things like
    ouryu
    , or
    omega
, taking damage without -pdt isnt worth it
Paralyze for the fisrt, slow/para/elegy for the 2nd. Suck less.

What you are suggesting is taking damage without attempt to cast ichi in -pdt. Look : 2 hits in -50% pdt equals to one hit in zero% pdt. Maths. The spell int option is less enmity last because you WILL be able to equip random pdt gear (rings come to my mind at least) and also because you get shadows back faster allowing you to cast more spell than the "pdt" option. PDT gear is nice ... when recast is not ready. Who doesn't tank with double march again ¿

If you get hit more than once you've done it wrong. Spell Interruption has its use: ahahhahhdhash its attacking me hALP i cant get shit up IMGONNA DIE.

    Otherwise, PDT.

Your logic fails again. You are equiping pdt, and you pretend to be able to never cast more than once, I'd like to know the logic behind this.

    * If you don't cap spell interruption but have -50% pdt, and get hit, you get interrupted : 2 hits or more
    * If you don't get hit, well .. zero hit !

Where are you getting hit only once, again ?

Meh, I'm too tired to argue this. My point was unless you are getting hit multiple times, you should be using PDT (Especially as RDM with stoneskin).

You're assuming people wear no interupt gear in their PDT sets. It isnt "1 hit without physical damage taken and 2 hits with", as you have to compute the probability of that first attempt to cast going off (with the base ninjitsu skill, any equipped interupt, and chance for para/stun to allow the casting to occur).

With those factors in play, it is more efficient to be in PDT gear.

    However what would be most efficient is having both sets;

PDT gear when cast times are down and you're lingering.

    Spell interupt when normal casting.

    Not rocket surgery.

Honestly, in Spell Interruption gear, a single hit may break Stoneskin. Result: You take damage, spell goes off.

In PDT gear, a single hit will (almost always) not break Stoneskin. Result: You take no damage, spell goes off.

What's better? I could see your point if you were actually taking damage and there was a chance to be interrupted. In this case, I've already agreed that interruption is better. So, you're arguing nothing.

Which didnt consider that it isnt a 2to1 comparison of hits taken and damage recieved, as you still have a chance of getting that first cast off, even in pure PDT gear.

It isnt two .5 damage hits = 1 full damage it. It's one .5 damage hit + the potential for a second .5 damage hit if your spell interupt merits, spell interupt gear in non PDT slots, and ninjitsu skill dont allow you to get shadows back up < damage taken from one full foot stomp on your face.

I think at 99 the merit cap should be removed. We, with enough time and effort, should be allowed to completely 100% merit EVERYTHING.

The concept of "as your char gets smarter he gets weaker" and "if you character gets stronger he gets stupider" has always been retarded, thus things like chocobo raising's stat caps and opposite stat system tick me off.

At the very least they could make it that to fully merit stats past the normal level all merits cost the maximum amount of points.

Also we should be able to merit all 8 stats up semi infinitly, but everytime you do the next point not only costs more but at an accelerated rate, so by the time you hit the +20s you're spending 40-50 merits per point. Most of us wouldn't bother after a point but if we wanted to we should be able to get like +50 strength on our char at the cost of the equivalent of leveling a character 1-75 twice over.

Think FF8's devour move. Yeah you can get your stats of all chars to 255, but itd take 3 years of nonstop playing.

Same goes for crafting, I want to be able to level all crafts to 100 pending I have the time and money to do it. Limiting players is just silly and pointless. If we have the $$$ and time to afford to take all crafts to 100, hells yeah we've earned the right to the license to print money it'd represent.

It's often like that IRL, so why is it retarded? People focus on different aspects of life, same in-game. Makes sense.
