That doesn't substantiate anything.

Also, if you look at Elmers vanafest wrap up, there is a picture of a moogle and a couple categories. They are translated, the first categories is weapon upgrades, the fifth is "third most powerful weapons". Apparently from what Elmer said in response to my post there about it, its all up in the air but it seems relic are upgraded through a seperate selection from normal weapons. Which makes sense, should have access to better upgrades than a hagun or destroyers, etc.
Trial of the Magians is a set of quests for Level 75 characters that allow them to improve their existing weapons, armor and skills. Players choose an area they wish to improve and must complete a corresponding quest to obtain their selected enhancement. The five categories shown at VanaFest were
- Weapons
- Armor
- "Livelihood Skills" i.e. Crafting Skills
- "Adventuring Skills" i.e. Player Stats
- "3rd set of strongest weapons" i.e. enhancing Relics and Mythics into a new set of ultimate weapons.
So far, the Weapons line of quests has been highlighted and looks to be added in the March update. Here are the official details:
A single weapon can undergo numerous upgrades. By trading an already-enhanced weapon to a Magian Moogle, players can undertake successive quests to have it further improved. Multiple quests can be undertaken simultaneously.
By repeating the quests, up to 80 different features can be added to a single weapon. With figures such as Damage and Delay added to the equation, there exist 500 possible attribute patterns for a single quest branch!
This is specifically from the section on Magian moogle quests.
In the paragraph I quoted, it is certainly possible to interpret it in such a way that the first sentence and the second sentence have absolutely nothing to do with each other. I take it that this is your interpretation.
However, when viewing the entire page (not just the paragraph I quoted), it becomes more evident that the writer generally grouped his/her thoughts together in a logical manner. I stand by my interpretation.
Bring the players, not the job. I can agree with this. If someone has two well geared job, bring the one they are familiar with.I guess you agree with me entirely, I dunno if what I said came off wrong, but every time anyone has asked for salvage setup, I've always said take your best geared melee, ignore their job. The idea that monk shines in salvage is obsolete though. Monk, as a DD job, is not useless, but the strengths it has come into play everywhere. Salvage is no different than other events. If anything, due to the whole unable to switch subjob thing, monk is arguably worse in salvage because most agree /war isn't worth it for some NMs/chariot, but, without a doubt shadows are useless on the first couple floors. It only becomes a debate on what is better on higher, non-boss floors. Well, Sam/War, War/Sam, Drg/Sam and Drk/Sam can Hasso all they want on early floors, and later on still have a pretty damn nice defensive tool, a defensive tool that is nice enough that a single mage can still solo heal it. Drk bring shit also...stuns, can heal themself, an Apoc Drk adds a whole new level to making it easy on the support - all the while riding Hasso.
Personally, some of the best 6 men run I had was with a war+drg, and it was faster and smoother than war+sam, sam+sam, mnk+war. It says a lot about job performance....
The only argument I tried to make is that mnk had an increased survivability that make them shine in salvage. 500hp, chakra, Hermes Sandal, less tp given, block/dodge/counter....if you want to avoid the "not as planned", they are probably the best "main melee" you can get for the whole run.
pretty sure the so called HQ mobs is when they spawn in a wave of 6 with double hp?
think t3 dahaks can have 50k hp
i really don't see why it's so hard for you to entertain this idea. when your only justification for not doing so is to say someone else is wrong. but why do you think you're right? not trying to be rude, just interested^^
personally it makes sense to me they would do it like this. i could really see a lot of people being disappointed with lacklustre augments on their relics. (which is what i imagine everyone else will get to pick on normal weapons)
God, go back to blindly accusing others of RMTing and stop being a fucking retard.
Your ENTIRE list is "this job is the best at its designated role, is that broken". Do us a favor and shut the fuck up.
Heres a list of jobs in FFXI whos primary role is to kill stuff with a weapon:
WAR MNK THF DRK RNG SAM DRK
You have three people with the following jobs leveled, all relevant things are merited and they have excellent gear for all 7 jobs.
You're going to xp, your setup is the following:
DD1 DD2 DD3 COR BRD RDM
You'll fill DD1/2/3 with which jobs?
You're going to do Nyzul, what party setup do you bring?
You're going to do Salvage, with 6 people, what setup do you bring?
Nidhogg is due, D11. How many DD's do you bring, and of what job?
You're going to bosspimpslap a 18 man Einherjar, which job do you want your DD's on?
Hmm, common consensus seems to be....BRING SAM. Is it because its just more convenient than any of the other jobs? Or could be because its, I dont know, broken?
I fail to see how this is illustrating the fact that SAM is broken. All salvage zone are clearable (beside pop NMs) with a party of 6 non-gimps, since as long as you bring a BRD the DDs' jobs is irrelevant. All Nyzul floors are easily clearable by a party of 3 non retarded players, so if you go with 6 ...
His point is people will ALWAYS pick either SAM or WAR for all those events. Period. Maybe THF for bosses in Nyzul. And stop bringing up fucking Nyzul Isle. Noone cares about it and its 3 good drops. Fuck off. Next time someone picks a DRG over a SAM for DD purposes and not Angon whore let me know k?
SAM may not be broken in all parts of the game but it sure as hell is too strong compared to other DDs. Go solo something on WAR/DNC. Then do that same thing as SAM/DNC. Tell me which does better. Then go to Fafhogg as SAM/WAR. Then go the next day as WAR/SAM. Guess which will most likely do better here as well. I'll give you a hint, it won't be the WAR.
Saying SAM is just filling a niche in the game is fucking stupid. Get over it, SAM was overpowered. Just hope that the new WSs even the playing board a bit for the DDs and the new armor and level increase actually makes this game more balanced.
