No, it is not. The Gigas in Vunkerl are fresh off the ships from the North continent. I wonder though what the green/yellow Gigas are compared to the white/blue Gigas. I know they are different tribes or whatever, but do they both come from Aldiaine? And is Aldiaine even the homeland of the Orcs and Gigas? We know it's the Elvaan homeland, and since the Orcs and Elvaan have a longstanding history of animosity, I think it lends it to being the base of the Orcish Empire as well.

Also, wasn't Whitegate simply the capital of Western Aht Urhgan, not the entire Empire? It's not specified if East Aht Urhgan has a different capital or what, just that Al Zhabi and the Merchant's Ward (Whitegate) serve as the capital for the Western half of the Empire. Allusions are made to the fact Whitegate might be the most functioning capital of the Empire however, which would make sense what with the Eastern War and all.

If I remember the end of CoP correctly, the Far East is also having trouble with some "barbarian army" on top of dicking around with the Emptiness. I wouldn't be surprised if we see more of the Far East since JRPGs always have a hard-on for the obligatory Feudal Japan clone. Maybe Abyssea's NPC representative will hail from the Far East like how Sagheera and co. served as a preview for Aht Urghan?

Also, the wapanese Yagudo we see is the result of the good relationship the Yagudo Theomilitary and Far Eastern Empire. They're not native to the Far East but a special group of them have been living there for ages assimilating Far Eastern culture... or some shit like that.

I would like to see Abyssea be usable as a new way to get around, like having portals between it, the overworld, and the underworld (cause seriously we all know that is exactly what wotg is, just like every other final fantasy), allowing us to have new shortcuts to get from point A to point B

I know there are a lot in place atm, but some areas are still way the hell out in the middle of nowhere, and a slightly more direct route to get to them would be nice.

Think FF8s portals between the continents at the end of the game.

Also, Id really like to see what SE can pull off effects wise for these areas. Things should be really effed up do to it being an alternate universe.

I don't get how in the hell this thread about level 99 turned into a lore discussion. I guess since avatar speculation is over it's the next nerdiest thing in line. Oh well. Here's a few things that crossed my mind.

Main FFXI+Zilart is considered the "core" game, and supposedly their rule is they intend for expansions/addons to not require other expansions. Which would mean Abyssea couldn't take place in the Walk of Echos or through any Wings areas. And so entering from the present Maws is a good bet. It also means the "new areas" probably really are new areas and it's not just a way of saying it'll take you into WoE.

As I see it there's a few possibilities for the identity of Abyssea.

-It's the alternate future dystopian version of Vanadiel mentioned in WotG. Part of me hopes this isn't it. I dunno, it just seems like way too much of a metaphor to send players crawling around a destroyed Vanadiel right as FF14 is coming out.

-It could be just any weird alternate universe they want to make up. Kinda like Dr. Who, or Sliders. Freaky evangelion crab says this could be the case.

-Abyssea leads to Eorzia. Maybe that would explain how all the same bloody races wound up in another game with a different world. (not really but it had to be said)

-Abyssea will be the Kingdom Hearts universe so Square can finally make good on Bercus' request years ago to have us fight Mickey Mouse. (Tomb Raider universe would also be acceptable)

No matter how it turns out I suggest our universe be declared Universe 1, superior to those other universes. And with that this thread has officially hit rock-bottom.

I always hoped they would let us travel freely through the maws eventually (through Walk of Echoes). They should just call that place "end of time" and add Spekkio and Gaspar in it...it would be even better.


About Abyssea, the reason why I believe it might be connected to atomos is the maw looking "gate" on top of the picture.

We all know that Abyssea will be a zone only accessible by causing a Mega Sandworm to Ultra Doomvoid you and it can pop in any zone in the entire game. And once inside you will fight either Mega Serket, Mega Guivre or Mega KA. And all the mention of those new ultimate weapons are lies spread by the Sundi foundation for retarded children.

With level caps soon to be removed from CoP areas, you can run through the promy quest once per week as a level 75, hitting the ??? on every single floor with no aggro and no fighting. I'm not gonna check wiki but I think its 1200 for killing 30 mobs (can be strays), 300 for floor 1, 900 for floor 2, 900 for floor 3, and 1200 for floor 4?

Total NPC XP roughly 5500 for a maybe 15 minutes of running around.

I feel really stupid for bothering to level my NPC the hard way. Anyone with a low level NPC can bring it up very rapidly with this come June.

EDIT: By "rapidly" I guess I mean "rapidly in terms of XP/hour". It would still take a while for NPC to reach 70 because this can only be done once per week. But the time investment is VASTLY diminished.

they keep hinting at new continents, like they did before ToAU through the adventurer NPC quests, with the storyline about mirrors that they apparently completely forgot about once the expansion came out. Specifically, I'm pretty sure Lehko explicitly names the southern, western, and northern continents and goes into detail about the southern.

Still, when they pull stunts like raising the level cap to 99, or releasing expansion-like updates through tiny add-ons, I can't imagine they expect the game has enough life in it to make it worth releasing new expansions with that kind of scope.

I wish they would cover the far east at least...that's where we would get Phoenix's story. We've covered the other 4 terrestrial avatars and all 10 celestials...while Phoenix has only barely been mentioned. Though WotG has turned out pretty well story-wise imo, I was pretty disappointed when they went that route instead of the far east to finish up with Tenzen/Phoenix.
