24 levels of nothing is unlikely 24 levels of nothing useful is marginally better odds but not by much, if they raise the level cap we might see a raise on the phalanx/stone skin hard-caps

If it comes to just Spell speculation i can come up with in just a few mins:

    Enhancing:
    Stoneskin II
    Phalanxe III
    Aquaveil II
    Mana Screen
    Phys Screen
(something on the lines of Immortal Shield)
    Spikes II (all kinds)
    En-Enfeebles
    En-Dispel
    Bubble (yea right...)
    Float
    Reflect
    Blink II

    Enfeebling:
    Paralyze III
    Slow III
    Sleep III
    Bio III/IV
Dia IV/V (both allready in dats)
    Curse
    Frog
    Zombie
    Silence II
    Gravity II
    Bind II
    Terror
    Amnesia
    Blind III
    Poison III

I come up with these, and most of its based on shit they have made in other games, or ive seen in this game.

P.S. Btw you have anger issues, i said i wasn't a grammar nazi, but when you post long rants like that it's difficult to find your point.

P.S.S. Also forgot to add, they could Also add Libra (it is also in the dats)

There really isn't a point to adding haste II if they don't break the haste cap

I totally see your point, but aside from Paralyze, the Rdm isn't doing anything unique in that situation. If you have a Blm, Whm, Brd and Cor in your alliance, even before considering subs you have a job to do everything you mentioned above except Paralyze and Slow. Add /rdm and there's really nothing to bring a Rdm for, and they go from support (which they should be) to being truly secondary/superfluous. Of course you can leave out one of those jobs and let the Rdm fill the slot, but then you lose out on the truly unique abilities those jobs actually have to offer.

Again, I'm not saying it makes Rdm useless, but it removes the uniqueness SE claimed they plan to keep.

As far as speculation on new spells goes, while I'd punch a baby for Reflect I'm not really including that into my assessment yet. There are simply too many possibilities to make it worthwhile even in the realm of speculation without some official word of their inclusion.

Not in a rotating Brd situation, but giving Haste 2 the potency of a Spy's Drink would let you cap magic haste and while freeing up a song slot in a 6man group. That'd be pretty nice in Salvage or the new lowman Dynamis they announced.

I agree with you on the rest, Rdm t2 merits crushed my hopes of SE adding anything game changing to Rdm's spell set.

Personally i would love to see RDM get some more tanklike abilities, i have been really impressed with a couple RDM/NIN tanks, but i would love to see this become more acceptable Gamewide, if they got reflect, something like Immortal Shield (stoneskin for spells only, or perhaps a blink for magic only?) and a couple hate tools i think rdm could be a real contender for tanking more events.

Hopefully they'll redesign t2 merit spells in general, because it will be retarded for a bunch of classes as it is now. No new tiers of protect/shell/dia/bio/slow/para/blind/AM/elemental ninjutsu/etc. without obsoleting a lot of merits, not to mention blm would be stuck at bio 2, rdm would be stuck at protect 4/shell 4, etc. It would make a lot of sense if those merit spells became standard spells, and the merits were replaced with traits that boosted the effects of that spell tree, similar to how whm's barspell or regen merits work.

    IE:
Bio 2 merit becomes Bio effect - Increases the damage of your bio spells per tick by 1/2/3/4/5.
Shellra V becomes Shell effect - Increases the MDB granted by your shell spells by 1x/2x/3x/4x/5x
    etc.

I have no hope for something like that to happen, but it would be nice.

You say you aren't a grammar nazi, and then comment on my grammar and punctuation. It's a way for you to try and take a cheap shot when things aren't going your way in a discussion. The funny part is, if you compare it to a lot of the posting on the board, it was actually way above average in grammar, spelling, and punctuation. I wasn't angry at all, I was typing in caps for emphasis. Listen, I understand you don't have the best reading comprehension and reading an entire paragraph and a few sentences can be a bit taxing and hard to focus for you. Perhaps you should browse with a tab open to dictionary.com, that way you can look up every word you're unsure about, take it sentence by sentence, and perhaps understand my point.

I love when people give a psychobable interpretation of someone's motives and then turn around and use another overplayed backhand slap.

I'm rather indifferent on 82+/RDM basically handing over everything that "makes" RDM what it is now. Buff cycles aren't fun and people have just been confusing the job for WHM for years. Sure, Slow II's useful when an HNM isn't immune, but let's not kid ourselves into believing people seek enfeebles for EXP. Hell, I've seen parties chain just fine inifinitely without Dia ever being cast. Too often it winds up being mob availability that's make or break here.

As for what RDM should get 76+, I really hope it isn't more of the same. I'm probably one of the few who don't want Refresh II (invites be damned) and also believes T4 nukes should remain exclusive to SCHs and BLMs. And as was hinted by another poster, SE "tried" to force RDM melee with Death Blossom and the -resist effects of T2 Enspells, but it failed for various reasons, a big one just being other players being so vehemently against RDM melee because of statistics and bad experiences with those who think swinging in Errant is cool. I'd be fine with them somehow making this more desired, but unless it equates to more EXP or better loot, I can't see people changing when it comes to this aspect of the job.

In the event of "more of the same" being on the agenda, though, I do hope they go back and change merits so Slow II is level earned in the 60s, III could come at 90+, and so on. All the other jobs should get similar treatment, too. In fact, no spell or JA should be locked by merits, in my opinion. Just modify their efficiency or recast with 'em.

I almost think we should all spam the suggestions email (like we did for black belt and gjallarhorn) to have them change spell and JA merits to enhancing effect/recast/acc/et cetera.

Then I get reminded of many NYPA posters.

Regardless, I'll be doing just that personally.

Overplayed backhand slap? Did you ready any of the dialogue? No? I can't honestly blame you, I wouldn't either. 70% Of it was me re-explaining myself because people kept twisting/adding words, or totally taking things I said out of context. If people would slow down, read the entire thing, and not be so fast to hit the reply button it wouldn't be necessary. The other 30% of it was because the grammar police showed up and attempted to make a wrongful arrest.

I don't see any reason they wouldn't just make all the spells baseline, and make the merits improve them. Gives them more freedom to come up with cool stuff for lv99 merits.

I really am curious what they'll replace certain spells and merits with. Sadly most of the current potency additions to the current spells earned through merits are pretty lame. It would really be nice to see them rethink these spells a bit or at least the way additional merits in them powered them up.

The other thing I was thinking about and not sure if any other Blms can speak to this but as we get higher in level how do you think AM2 will scale? Do you think it'll ever get to the point that Tier IVs will be capped or plateau and AM2 exceed? This may become a moot point if we get Tier V nukes but still kind of interesting to think about especially given if mp recovery gets bigger and bigger boosts then spamming bigger nukes also might become more important from a DoT aspect (can only dream.)

Wow, get over yourself already nobody cares about your pointless spam posts. Obviously you seem to believe he who posts last wins. Congratulations, You win a big glass of hubris.

Seriously it's one thing to disagree with others but you just are basically shitting up the thread saying, "No, I'm right you're wrong, SE is going to fuck over Rdm." That all? Fine that's awesome but you have little to no basis for this at all. You have less basis to speculate on that than us expecting them to add new things to Rdm to maintain it's unique aspects as a job. Sure SE has been less than 100% awesome on adding promised things to jobs see Smn + Avatars but as it was said overall they have delivered on most promises in regards to jobs. The one thing that they aren't going to do is overpower a job just because.

If you actually have an issue about other jobs getting the exact same abilities you have you're obviously just pre-emptively getting upset over the prospect that Rdm might not be the queen mage of exp. I don't see how you can possibly defend that from being anything more then whining/bitching.

I don't exactly follow what you mean. As far as I'm aware, the only general damage cap on spells comes from dINT. Unless we get some pretty massive stat growth in INT or enemy's lose a lot of INT, capping dINT won't happen. As far as the other major aspect of spell damage, you can always add more MAB without capping. In other words, Thunder IV should always be more MP efficient than Burst II as far as we're aware at the moment.

I'm really disappointed that the only thing they said about BLM is that they were thinking about giving us Meteor. I'd rather get something for high MP efficiency that doesn't improve our ability to solo or group with other BLM. I think it would be neat if Tier V spells did straight up damage and also put on DoT that wouldn't interrupt Sleeps. Too bad both of those step on SCH's toes too much.

I think Blms MP efficiency will come from possibly Aspir II that will be blm exclusiv and work on all mobs (in example turns dmg dealt ----> MP)

as for the rdm part, I really dont see why some rdms are so paranoic about other mages getting their abilitys. They are still the master of enfeebling and enhancing magic + they are basicly free to sub whatever they want (i. e. sch wohoo). It will even out the playing field a bit, which I am glad for (well at least a bit).

except they would give it to drk before anything from thier previous actions/patterns and it's dubious on if blm would even get drain2 let alone aspir 2.

I think reason anyone cares about people getting RDM's shit is because back in my day, you only invited a RDM if you couldn't find a WHM because all RDMs had were cures (up to V) and shitty nukes and enfeebles that rarely stuck, you know, kinda like how SCH was till they got fixed.

Then SE threw them a bone and adjusted weapon levels and added convert, dispel and refresh which changed RDM's role till ToAU was released when RDMs turned into Cure Refresh and Haste whores.

Honestly, if anything SE already hinted they're going to look at it and see what to do so "Main Jobs" don't get the shaft so for all anyone knows it will suffer the subjob syndrome and be gimped to the point you'd only use it as a last resort.
