Does the Alpha start now and the first wave of closed beta invites on the 11?

The alpha starts on the 11th or soon after when the "beta" site opens. Don't look too much into the alpha/beta names, other than this is the very first public test.

I didn't get into the beta but i'm one happy camper right now, that i guarantee you. ^_^;
There's still chances to get in at a later time but i'd still be happy if i didn't get in at all because i know i'll be playing the full finsished game before the end of the year. I can wait, definately can.

Email received from SE today advising that I have access to the closed alpha and then all closed beta's and open beta.

Keep an eye out for these coming your way. Post this once but it says the post was moved and I can't find. This seem the next logical place to post.

Haven't played in a while so not surprised I didn't get in, although being in the SC2 Beta and FFXIV Beta would be a little insane (head would explode etc) so it's all good. Just glad it's getting started.

I doubt they would honestly care for people saying whether or not they got an email. Like someone said previously, people could be lying. What will they do to determine who you are? Look at forum name, which could be misleading, then find what your SE account is and ban you? Unless you post images of your email account and other personal info, I don't see any harm in saying you got in.

Depends on the NDA. Sometimes you can tell people you're in the beta, sometimes you can't. It should make it pretty clear.

Like I said, beta NDAs are no joke and are usually enforced relatively aggressively.

If you guys think SE is gonna run a lax NDA for 14... you're mentally challenged.

Also, what do they care if your forum info is "misleading". Why would it matter to them if they accidentally ban the wrong person? Better safe than sorry, and there are hundreds of thousands more testers in line who are ready to replace you and follow the rules. You're not a paying customer. They can do what they want.

Personally, I would recommend playing it safe. I'm sure throughout the process, thousands of people will eventually be selected and we don't need an "I'm in!" post from everyone.

Also, probably wouldn't want to put BG in the spotlight as a place that allows people to breach the NDA, if this is indeed against the NDA.

But that's a matter for the admins to decide.

In every Beta Test I've ever applied for, it is a breach of the NDA to acknowledge participation as a tester.

Varies, but given that SE made a point of saying that they didn't want to release any public alpha or beta until the game was nearer to completion, I'd imagine the alpha won't last more than a month or two before they go into a short beta.
