Someone asked earlier, but no one really replied.

Did any one that got accepted put that they were signing up for the PC AND the PS3 beta? Everyone that released that info put PC only.

Personally, I'm not surprised I didn't get picked for 1st round, and I'm not too bummed out because my computer probably can't handle it atm. Was going to upgrade it when/if I got accepted into a PC beta, but at least I can wait until my tax return now before I get a new PC.

The games director, Hiromichi Tanaka, confirmed in an interview with Game Watch on Oct 2, 2009, that the Beta will be PC only. It will be starting as a closed Beta for 10,000 testers, before being opened to the public. They plan on having a full population as early as Summer 2010.

Oh and they also said that there will only be about 10% of the games content during the Alpha. I think too many people are expecting a full fledged brand new MMO and they want to get a head start and mke gil and lvl jobs etc etc...

Its going to be a testing environment at the start. Picture only being able to run around Southern sandy and east ronfaure and you can only level up to lvl 10. Yes its going to be cool to be the first ones there, but come on. It's going to be the nitty gritty with probably a TON of bugs. If you didnt get in, wait for the Beta.

I did. i really think its more of a sampling thing. XIV requires high end hardware for the PC tho, and i listed myself as having that. if your hardware is too low, they'll just have to filter you out.

My computer is a piece of shit, and was the minimum specs available on the list when I signed up for the beta, and I still got picked.

Of course they are still going to pick people with shitty computers. It's a TESTING phase. Gotta make sure that shit works on lots of different types of computers, not just omfg awesome PCs.

in that case, its still a sampling thing. they pick a few from each category, but its pretty safe to assume they know what will support the game definitively, so they'll pick more of those.

the alpha is testing the basic functions of the game itself, so it seems to be less of a technical thing, although that aspect will no doubt factor in as long as you're on PC.

As I said before, when Alpha starts and everyone starts bum rushing the Beta Test Website just try to log in - If it works; alright. If not; baaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwww.

Based off the acceptance email screen shots I've seen, it looks like you don't need to confirm anything with them once you get the email. We'll probably be able to enter our SE IDs into the beta tester page, and if it works then you're in, and if it doesn't, then... you're not.

I didn't get an email, and this is what I plan on doing... you never know!

Sucks too, because I would have actually tried to find all the glitches and stuff to make the final game better.
