I've never played an MMO straight from it's initial launch, I take it they normally crumble under pressure due to underestimating consumer demand?

I played FFXI on NA release, but as we all know the JPs had a year head start on us which meant the majority of the bugs and server stability hiccups were fixed long before then.
(that and getting RoTZ as a free pack-in was nice)
