Anyone happen to know the average wait time between Alpha tests? Could there be 1 every week or every other week?

I wouldn't think about the stat thing too much, it seems they haven't really settled on how its going to work themselves yet.
I think the easiest thing they can do is limit the Physical level to the same as the class level.
They may add something like shift and enter to add 10 points at a time to a stat, or select the stat and then increase/decrease it by pressing up and down on the arrow keys.
On another guys stream after alpha was over he let us asked questions and he said that elemental stats DO boost magic for the corresponding element. I don't think you can upgrade tp now but it's there so it might be upgradable in the future. Points stick to your character if you read the review on zam. Not sure about the other 2 questions though.
How long will alpha last? When will beta start? Sorry if these questions are asked already/answered.
One thing I used to do in FFXI was level my main (THF) on my own, but when I joined with friends, I'd level on my BLM or some other class at their level. With physical levels always advancing, I wonder how that will affect partying with lower level friends, or friends new to the game.
For those in the current stage of testing, what is your feeling on this game currently? Does it feel polished? Does it feel like a new experience in regard to Final Fantasy? Some familiars with FF11 but just overall, more prettier?
That's a good question. I figure though, that as long as you had weapons low enough level, you could always group with them.. guess we'll have to wait and see. When the Alpha/Beta gives you long enough to play and stay logged in, so people can actually level up and then test differences in exp.
Lol. What douches to do such a thing. Ironically this brought more people to FFXIV interest. Had a few friends come and watch as it was playing. The ladies they love the Lallafell. My bros, they wanna play too. None of them have seen FFXIV before in any shape or form.
Maybe SE should hire someone like Pooky (or Pooky himself) for this type of thing, and stop those BS JP-Youtube-teasers.
Man I have a 52 inch hdtv... Ps3 + ff14 orgasm
Don't think anyone else answered yet. Most of my answers come from what I saw in pooky's run.
1) As far as I know the element stats increase your resistance to that element (100% sure of) + if you're a mage increase the power of spells of that element (80%~ sure of, but def that first part)
2) At level 2 he gained 70 points and then I think at 4 he gained 75. So it's looking like you do get more point's the higher the level.
3/4) I don't know.
5) I don't know how much of a difference vit made (Some I'm sure) but pooky upped his strength by like 20-30 from level 1 to 2 putting most of his points there and he was indeed then hitting the same mobs for around 20 more base damage. So yeah it matters.
Yeah. It's SE's game, they've set the rules. Pooky was bound to be banned, but the way it happened should have been less dramatic.
It was enjoyable to watch and we saw quite a bit, but there's still a reason why SE don't just open the doors for all alpha footage.
Let's not get mad media is taken away from us that we had no right to in the first place.
If there only are those good reasons to allow people to stream the game to the world, write SE explaining it or apply for a job in their marketing division. If it really holds up, they're sure to listen
I'd only report people that harass others though, and declaring yourself a 'crusader of righteousness' as I can understand has been going on here.. that's just being a jerk.
Oh well...
Future breakers: I'm sure most wouldn't mind if you take the time to hide your identity![]()
Probably depends on the job and your stats. It doesn't seem like physical level means a whole lot besides just more skill points. If you switch from a melee to a magic job and you have fuck all for magic points your only advantage will probably be your giant HP pool and some defense stats.
They already said you can reallocate points just for that situation
And HP won't be giant as all as in last night's session at least it was 8 skill points for 1 point of hp (while the cost of all the other stuff was 2 or 3 and MP 4 I think).
So just to get to 300 from 208 where a lot of people started it looked like would be around 9-10 levels of all your points going just into hp (assuming the price didn't rise)
I wonder how frequent the reallocation can take place. I wonder if that only means between classes as in as you change class, you get to reallocate points from your physical level but once you have them set, you can only change with a harsh penalty (gil or cooldown etc). I hope it isn't like dual specc'ing in WoW or something to that affect.
I kinda felt that the intro lacked something. The pacing seemed to be a bit off, and I think it would have benefited from one more cutscene where the ship would disembark.
The "tutorial" also was a bit lame, since there were only you, 2 NPC's and one mob. The event didn't quite catch the feeling of being in a 'storm' either (compared to the cutscenes, which were well done). It could have been a bit more hectic as well- even if it's just the tutorial, throwing the player on a middle of bigger battle would be actually pretty epic start, although a bit confusing.
The intro will prolly be something SE adjusts later too along with everything else, but then again I'm not so sure.
I heard something is happening on April 13 along with sum update (that requires a full reinstallation, nonetheless).
To those who played:
- Did you notice a difference when attacking from front/side/back?
- Archers, did you have a set number of arrows that you had to buy when you ran out, or did you have a quiver capacity that you auto-filled with 'Refill' once it ran out? (I apologize for asking this multiple times if you've followed it)
- Was anyone able to try out a miner or a blacksmith? Although it's understandable what someone pointed out that nobody wanted to throw rocks on their first alpha attempt. Wondering if there was any kind of interaction when mining some of those spots that were identified on Pooky's vid, or if it was simply "click here, mine, success/fail".
A rumour probably, but...
apparently someone in the stream said "TanakaHiromichi sayd "2nd alpha test 3/13 JST"".
Not a whole lotta evidence to back this up, but you never know.
