Those are the kind of names that reassure me of SE developers' dartboard skills.
Looking at some of those you can't help but wonder if they just put a cat on a keyboard and broke up what it typed into 7-15 character segments that became the names

Many thanks, Seph.
I just complied it, so I thank that sexy guy who took the pics on the char select screen.
So I'm guessing these gods will have some effect on the elemental affnity of our characters ? 6 for casters 6 for melee ?

Here here. If you want competition, do something PvP. Competing over mob claims is ass.
Some of us have enough shit to do with our lives other than play the sit-and-wait game. If they want to include that kind of content for those who enjoy it, fine. Just don't label that bullshit "hardcore" and make it the only realistic way to get to the phat lewt.
There's already lots of potential for combat in XIV to be fluid and strategic, so how about let's have that be the challenge.
Their description of Gladiators is making me question if you will have more options besides 2-handed blades and sword/shield to distinguish between offensive and protective builds.
Finally, the Twelve are among us.
Gonna have to go with Rhalgr, even though I know it'll be overdone.
My backups are Althyk, Halone, and Menphina.
I very highly doubt NM camping, in the form of the way its done in FFXI, will be in XIV. Despite the heart warming memories some of you XI vets may have(I have some as well) its an atrocious system with too many flaws. Having people wait hours, fighting against bots, for a chance to fight something is asinine. The fun and excitement should be the difficulty of fighting the NM, not claiming it. They can kiss the casuals goodbye with an NM camping system, and if I remember right they are aiming for a more casual crowd with XIV.
I do agree WoW has you replacing gear too quickly but its a different type of game. People in XI want gear to make themselves feel special, gotta let go of the epeen attitude eventually. I was like this when I played XI, but I grew up. WoW gear is more as a means to progress and experience more difficult content and story, a lot of people do it for the epeen too, but I'd say to quite a lesser extent than FFXI. Hopefully SE can find a good middle ground when it comes to this.
Argus. Not again, never again. I play on Ps2. I sat there for around 15 hours of actual camping, not afk (though I was watching movies on a seperate TV). I lost claim to a character I personally saw in the leech kings room afk. He magically was back at the iron door, ahead of me, while I was running all the way to it.
Fuck that. That was literally 15 hours of my life lost to a cheater, not a legit player. That isnt competition. Competition is questing and defending yourself from a ganker, or a LS competing to be the first to defeat a mob.
Attempting to dodge all the posts of people talking about 2 games that are not what this thread is about.
I like the sound of Halone, but I'll need to find out what they each actually do first.![]()
