I miss the days when i played asheron's call and some high level jerkoff put all of his xp into quickness/agility because it only helped running speed. I mean, he ran really fast but he couldnt fight anything. Twas funneh.

Huh? I'm not sure what you're trying to tell me there. Are you referring to the part about it saying both Althyk and Nymeia are the eldest?

Hopefully each category of weapon has several sub types that will shine when a character has a higher stat over others. So if a player put a bunch of points in to dexterity, then gets a piercing sword - he owns more than a player with the same sword with all STR stats, for example.

Yeah, people will have to define their class through their stats. Which can help with distribution and roles in guilds/linkshells. Some guy with high int and mnd wont be getting a good sword before someone who has high str and dex.

Or wait, do we distribute stats for our char in general, or do we distribute according to the class/skill we levveled up with? Separate stats for each weapon type? That ould be too much customization id think, not that id mind that, though.

FFXIV Alpha looks like it played better than Vanguard did after 6 months of release.

Just shootin from the hip here, but for those who do play wow (yes, Im aware its a different game - but also a game that SE said they would learn from in the development of ff14) know that we can respec by paying some gold and talking to a trainer.

I would be very hard pressed to believe it would be any different than that system in 14. Also, the last interview posted in the Pooky thread shows a clear statement by the SE devs that support that.

So if anyone with decent software would like to compile a "tree" for the deities, I've spared you the trouble of organizing their relationships and elements. It may shed some unsuspected light in elemental relationships or battle regiments... who knows. Could probably glean astral/umbral alliances but I didn't bother. Could also be an epic waste of time.

Family 1:
Althyk M (earth) -siblings- Nymeia F (water)
[the descriptions actually say that both are the elder sibling, so I would expect them to fix that eventually]

Althyk M (earth) is father to:
Azeyma F (fire) the elder sister and
Menphina F (ice) the younger sister

Azeyma F (fire) married(?) to Thaliak M (water). Children are:
Llymlaen F (water) the elder sister and
Nophica F (earth) the younger sister
[Llymlaen and Nophica could be half sisters based on what is known, I'm just assuming they're not... Llymlaen is Thaliak's daughter, and Nophica is Azeyma's dauther, and Nophica and Llymlaen are sisters]

Family 2:
Rhalgr M (lightning) father to:
Byregot M (lightning) the elder brother and
Halone F (ice) the younger sister

Family 3:
Just the sibling brothers Oschon and Nald'thal.
Nald'thal M (fire) is the fusion of two deities, Nald and Thal
Oschon M (wind)

Non-family relationships:
Nymeia F (water) is master to Rhalgr M (lightning), servant
Thaliak M (water) is teacher to Byregot M(lightning), pupil
Halone F (ice) is rivals with Nophica F (earth)
Oschon M (wind) and Menphina F (ice) are lovers
Oschon M (wind) is close to Halone F (ice)

It's also possible that the family relationships aren't intended to be interpreted that way, and phrases like "mother to" simply mean "dominant to."

I put together a spreadsheet to help organize this information. I am seeing:

2 deities for each element (gender not balanced, ie: both ice are female)
6 females
6 males
3 fathers (thaliak, althyk, khalgr)
1 mother (azeyma)
5 guardians: two of which are fathers (thaliak/sharlayan, khalgr/ala mhigo), the other three are children (halone/ishgard, nophica/gridania, llymlaen/limsa lominsa)

I wonder if the 1 mother deity (who is the sun deity) slept with all three fathers?

Edit:

All 5 cities' guardians have their own element.

Sharlayan is Water (Thaliak)
Ishgard is Ice (Halone)
Gridania is Earth (Nophica)
Ala Mhigo is Lightning (Khalgr)
Limsa Lominsa is Wind (Llymlaen)

The fire deities aren't guardians for anything (that is known at the moment.)

It just seems like too obvious of a question to not be. If you somehow stumbled recently upon the forum because of 14, well, welcome. I am not a member of the LS, never was, but have been around since it began. I'll try to explain the significance and popularity of the site youre on.

Bluegarter (which has a wiki for the full story) is, yes, a linkshell. A historic linkshell that first gained popularity (as well as this, one of the largest FFXI, and I wouldnt be suprised if FFXIV forums) by being the first NA linkshell to truely accomplish anything note worthy, going head to head against end game JP linkshells. They pretty much pioneered end game NA FFXI. They became a meeting place for FFXI players, no matter what server. This was, is, THE social site of FFXI.

You've never seen the video of Lujan (old member) as Barney the dinosaur? :D Im refering to a video of the first Nidhogg take down by a NA LS. BG took down Tiamet before anyone else (that Im aware of, NA anyway) and one it's members crafted not only the first dragon harness, but he HQ'd it nonetheless. Everything they did was over the top. Checking Septimus's and Berticus's updates on their 'what we've done today - that you wont do in a year' site made most players want to step up their game. Shit, I still remember Lawnchair LS and seeing them have full alliances for Carbie mitts...but that was also when noone else COULD before you laugh. We're talking what, 2003?

Sonomaa, the lead moderator of the site and BG member, is actually a source to SE for information. Thats how important the site is for players. SE themselves regularly visit the site.

I left out alot. And before any fanboy nonsense, I was IRL friends with a BG member and was sitting right next to her during many a fafnir fight, watching the behind the scenes, back in the day. Think Worldx days. I even had to listen to the drama behind the scenes from her. Mayyybeee I even played briefly on her account, promising not to say anything in linkshell so I could power level myself with 2 machines The LS began as friends, and consists of some of the best players Ive seen in the game.

BG made Bahamut server. They are legends. Im genuinly showing respect right now, all cocky past comments aside. Ive not always been a BG fan, so what I say I mean. They do deserve respect. 'nuff said.

Nothing ever happened in FFXI without it being documented on BG.

BG videos originally inspired me to make my own While mine were never as good as Ondori's (sp?) I am still satisfied where my last one I made ended up. (Last one I made was about 3 years ago)
