What do archers do for melee?

I'm talking about an actual weapon.

Right now, it's fine, but what about at level 20? 50? Your weapon will undoubtedly be better, since you'll probably buy (or find on a 21-24 NM) better ones as you progress. But you'll still have only your level 1 nuke to hurt things.

It's like killing stuff at 75 with Stone, because the game won't let you bash anything with your staff. Even if the dart gets better, it's still no replacement for letting you smack things with your weapon.

well, considering there will be a heavy emphasis on range during battle, it would'nt be very effective to have to run back into effective range to cast spells, just for the sake of a physical attack with your stick. i think moves like phantom dart are designed to give mages some type of tp build and a free(no MP cost), repeatable attack.

i don't know, but what is the point of even using physical attacks with a mage? by the time you get to higher lvls you will have spent a good chunk of points on attributes that compliment your magical capabilities. no one wants to see a mage in their party NOT casting, and if you're soloing, i doubt your survivability would be high just swingin your stick.

I'll post anything I come across in here for the most part. I've left out a couple so far that were just stuff we've already seen (was a couple of that Mithra NPC that I didn't bother to reupload).

Doesn't seem to be much coming out from anywhere though. Dunno if everyone's gotten more paranoid after Pooky getting banned or there's just nothing "new" to leak out. 2ch thread is talking about chat bubbles now, riveting stuff.

i guess its more along the lines of "knowing that you can", options are good even when the other option is useless

It was exceptionally stupid. I'm glad I got to watch it and see more footage of the game, but it doesn't change the fact that it was just a bad idea through and through. Anyone who does so publicly is most certainly going to banned.

Because they ran out of arrows, or have to fight at close range. I would not expect an archer to be as pathetic as a mage with melee. I figured they'd have daggers or something. Also how much less damage arrows do at point blank range.

I was thinking more in lines of what a melee RDM was supposed to have been (and still can be with the right builds) in FFXI, rather than a WHM farming too weaks with his apollo's staff. Conjurer and Thaumaturge will probably be fine with Phantom Dart, but would still be nice to have a melee mage that can actually hold its own against other DDs rather than be ridiculed in parties because they're spending more time meleeing and less time curing.

In FFXI, melee RDM is out of the question until level 75 with the appropriate gear. And it's still a solo/small man thing, there's no room for it in parties, especially low level parties.

It was stupid if she wanted to keep her Alpha account, I think it was short sighted on her part, perhaps she didn't expect it to go down like it did.

But like I have said before maybe she had access to two accounts and was willing to sacrifice one of them.
