To me it doesn't look like it's that extreme a different from the normal game, perhaps lighting but if you look at the transition to when people are actually moving about below deck on the boat, I don't theres a whole lot else that's changed.
The fuck. All those people in that picture and NOBODY is sitting in a chair? Can we please get a confirmation that chairs/benches in the game are fucking intractable?
So, thus far that we know, we have cutscene people leaning on railings and sitting on floors. I can't even see a chair or a stool in that CS. This is going to be another stand up/sit on dirty floor experience?
Really?
No, not even similar. They used entirely different models altogether in XI. These are using the exact same models. The only thing that looks like its being added to that cutscene is Depth of Field. According to the nvidia article, SE developed an inhouse ingame shader that emulates final gathering as well.
When somebody has the chance when EU and NA tests go live, can somebody please investigate the Arcanist and Musketeer Guilds to see if there's any clues about the supposed classes.
yea that would suck, but instead of nerfing that, they could just make arrows so cheap that RMT's wont look to them for monetary gains.
also something that supports this; the archer ability (according to the datamining files) that recovers your ammo using MP recovers your ammo to capacity.
"Replenish: invoking a blessing of renewal, consuming MP to recover your projectiles to capacity."
sounds awesome. on a side note, i see ethers bringing in big bucks in ffxiv, since it seems every class uses mp, but only DoM's(at this time) have an ability to recover it.

Oh Japan!
thats exactly what i said lol, just worded differently. i too think its dumb to force archer classes to have back-up weapons to get the job done. archers in the past in the real world didnt run out of arrows, to then run into battle with a knife or something. that would have been instant fail as soon as you see that big guy with the claymore coming for your face.
Real interaction with in-game objects: Something that any other mmo player takes for granted, FFXI (and soon, FFXIV) players shun.
Spoiler: show
That's the last thing I'd want them to focus on.Real interaction with in-game objects
I'm trying to remember back to other MMOs and whether said interactivity was available during the alpha stage. It could simply be a matter of SE not putting it in since its early, but it could also be a matter of making this FFXI-2, which the recent screenshots seem to be showing, especially with the world design.
There are positives in going down the same path as an earlier game, and there are negatives. I'm hoping that I won't have to simply see a wall of people sitting on the floor in jueno, and leaving half the buildings empty because you can't sit on a chair inside of them.
The LS meetings were always fun: a pack of us sitting on the floor at the Chateu, Whitegate, Teleport: Dem, or other such places, instead of using what would logically seem like a great place - the bars in each respective city.
Too lazy to mirror them all:

If that's the kind of "FFXI-2" we're getting, fuck yes. But if the GAME is same as FFXI, that'd be disappointing.
Rather than implement fluff interaction with the world, they should polish the already existing animations instead. Nothing pisses me off more than seeing poorly done animations and then some damn "sit on a chair"-emotes all around the place.
That might be just me however.
EDIT: And we need seriously more combat images. Are the JP's doing nothing but looking at the scenery? Le sigh!
Its amazing you consider "fluff" what their competitors have included for over half a decade. I never know how to approach your posts, Hyan, because I always wind up wanting to strangle you through this monitor.
it was more like a communication phail lol. what i was trying to say is, if you really want to make your archer a melee hybrid, it should be something possible(does'nt have to be effective, just doable lol). i for one wouldnt do it, cuz i agree with what you were sayin.
