no? why do people make rash assumptions like this?

i want into the beta because i want to help build something that is great. because i know there are people who DO think what you are accusing of and i don't want those people making the development process any slower than it is or turning ffxiv into a AAA shovelware mmo.

Good point, bust since there's going to be multiple waves with more and more people getting invited it's still something I wouldn't get worked up over if I didn't get in since I'm positive I"d get in a wave in the near future.

Also speaking of Beta.... I hope they update the XIV site before the beta is out. I'm still curious what Marauder and the magic based classes will be like.

I personally think it's a bunch of bullshit how Beta testing works. I hate seeing so many people getting singled out of something they'd really like to take part in. Especially the way we're getting "randomly" selected.

If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.

I will be collecting my copy of FF13 which i have had on Pre-order for a few months tomorrow i'll fill in the info and see what happens. Incase people say but there is no code with FF13, it says to register the game "please insert here the code you can find in either the game manual or the SQUARE ENIX MEMBERS leaflet found in your game box."

i don't like how they guaranteed recipiants spots in all future betas even though the people chosen may just goof off or never actually log on or never submit bug reports.

This is my biggest fear also ...seems that the masses think that this is gonna be just a head start from the rest that didn't get Beta. I just hope people actually use beta to give feed back on everything they like and dislike about the game, yea you can talk about clipping , textures, mapping ect., but i really want to see people give feed back on play ....do you like no-auto attack or maybe you didnt like it....is there communication issues they could fix before start.....what ways can the guild system be made better ect., ......there are soo many ways to look at using beta i just hope everyones on the same page. I would hate to come into a game where there are 1000000xx patches right of the bat that could be fixed before we enter, i am sure the community on sites like BG and others will be great for testing beta, its the majority of people that "just want to try it out" that i am scared of!

Im renting it from gamefly, but i wonder if blockbuster will save me a code in their dispaly cases... bwahahahahaha

someone posted an email on ki with the real XIV beta email, which said there will open betas in the future... I think SE wants to promote this game with the beta as well. I doubt they are going to keep the beta on a hush hush. Its all a front!

Hmm thats strange... my code doesn't work on the site when I try to register it. Font doesn't even match the one used on the site. -_-;

I'm not 100% but "Open beta" doesn't actually mean it's open to the public. It just means that people who participate are allowed to talk about it to others and such. Unlike the closed beta where you're not supposed to say anything about it.

I think some people believe "open beta" means anyone and everyone can play it and that's generally not the case. Though it might be a standard for right before release for MMO's now (WoW does it for expansions, Aion did it, FEZ is doing it for their US release, etc.)
