I'm running an ASUS laptop with core i7, 4gb ram, and a 5730. How might that stack up for this game? I sort of bought it assuming it'd be enough for FFXIV.

which model is that and how much did it cost you? Been lookin' for a new gaming laptop for this bad boy.

Someone should poke their nose into the Arcanist's Guild, take some screenshots, get some dialogue, try to figure out what Arcanists are or what weapons they use, if they're a crafting class or a DoM, etc.

Either way I only play WoW and FFXI on this one, but the processor is a wee bit slow to handle FFXIV. I don't play FPS or anything else really so I don't have the need to upgrade for the latest game every few months.

Depends how good the laptop is. For games that come out when you get the laptop it's fine, it's only for future games you're screwed since you can't upgrade them. I myself have a 2.8ghz dual and a gtx 260m and I expect to be able to run the game just fine

hmm.. so if your stat allocation is built towards a melee dps/tank class, then switching to a mage class will make u pretty gimp im taking it? Good thing for stat allocation in retail

Exactly. I have a desktop I built a few years ago, but I'm not really interested in keeping up with hardware to play X new game, and all the costs that come with that. I just got this machine to play FFXIV. The rest of my gaming is either older stuff, console, or handheld, which I'm content with.

Apparently I can't post URLs until 10 posts, but the model is N61J-X1, so just look that up.

I snatched it up right when they released it for $999, but it looks like they raised the price to deal with demand. Still a pretty nice deal though and I've been in love with the machine for the past few months.

I'm not even sure if that will be enough to run the game on max anymore...
I'm plotting to SLI GTX470s and they're 350 a pop, but I guess I'll wait a little longer for specs.

And yeah if you set a screen/keyboard on a desk with the PS3 you can pretend its a PC that didn't cost a fortune.

Only about as gimp as an Elvaan mage in XI.

The harder it is to change stats, the less min/max builds will be encouraged.
