This is directly from his link:
* If you have received a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code for registering FINAL FANTASY XIII on the Square Enix Members site, please use it to apply for the beta test.
* If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.
* The promotional code will also be required to obtain the FINAL FANTASY XIV secret in-game item, so please hold on to your code until the game’s official release.
YAY team meeting at work! see you all later! -_-;
Interestingly enough, though, that text wasn't always included on the beta sign up page. Here's a link to the cache from Feb. 27th (NA version, EU cache was from 22nd) which doesn't have the language.

Don't see why they would add that after the fact (and remove the language that the PS3 beta sign-ups would begin later). I'd say that's a better indication that there's something XIV-related with the NA and EU releases. Not definitive, of course. I figured surely the game has hit shelves early SOMEWHERE and if there was XIV related content, we would have heard about it by now.
An hour and a half til we know for sure, I guess.
edit: you'll have to hit the cache link yourself
Can anyone confirm how the JP beta code worked for FFXIV? Did you simply receive a code or website to visit with the code from the game box for FF13 or did you have to 'register it on the Square Enix Members site'? If you had to register it on the Square Enix Members site then it's likely a translation thing, however if you didn't then we can be fairly confident there will be a way to register your copy of FF13 and receive an FF14 beta code.
Someone get cracking so we can speculate!
The 1st print JP copies of FFXIII had a slip with the code to register the game AND they had a separate slip of paper with the Campaign Code key on it.
In the US/Euro versions there is only the product reg code. Registering that code on the S-E members site is giving *some* people a Campaign Code for whatever region they're in. The Campaign Code that is randomly given out functions the same as the JP code (gives you a better chance at the PS3 beta and an item to be named later.) Sucks that it isn't a 100% chance at a code. We're all dirty gaijin and don't deserve a 100% chance though.![]()
Iunno, im convinced. I dont think it guarentees anything, prolly just gives you some sort of precedence over someone who didnt buy XIII.

So I get the code from the members site then take it to the new application and get this error: The promotional code entered is either incorrect or has already been registered.
Edit: Nvm fixed. Don't copy past cause it includes the spaces and you'll be 4 short on app. lol Heres hoping I get into PS3 beta at least. ;x
Might want to wait before you go resubmitting an app. Might get you disqualified or something. This was taken from the page you get when you enter the promo code.- Submission of the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing application is limited to one per Square Enix ID, either for Windows or PlayStation 3.
I'm just going to make a new SE ID to sign up with my campaign code with, seems like the best choice.
Do we know if the 13 beta codes come with every game, or just pre-ordered ones, or just randomly scattered throughout the pile or what?
U use these codes to register for the PS3 beta? I thought u couldnt yet
well it came with a code and when I try to put it in, it says "that code is either incorrect or has already been used"
I didn't copy/paste either.
What comes in every new box is your standard product registration code. Register this registration code on the S-E members site and have a chance at getting a campaign code. Some people are reporting getting it and some people aren't (which sucks and is stupid.) Input the campaign code on your beta application for massive damage. From what people have said earlier I assume these codes are region locked.
from how ppl are talking, sounds like the code is exclusive to PS3, while xbox360 code doesnt give u the campaign thingy
That's really confusing. From the beta website, they are saying something else:- Submission of the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta testing application is limited to one per Square Enix ID, either for Windows or PlayStation 3.
* If an applicant applies multiple times, only the final application will be valid.
AND
* If you have already applied for the FINAL FANTASY XIV beta test but would like to apply for the PlayStation 3 beta with a FINAL FANTASY XIV promotional code, please be aware that all previous applications will be invalidated.
I can't tell if it's safe or not to reapply, but it's probably best just to start a new SE ID. I'm just reluctant since I happen to have my SE ID (that I previously applied with) linked to my SE Member with "points" from registering other games. I don't know if my chances for beta would be better from already being a gold member or from a bronze. Kind of at a loss of what to do.
Dear SE,
please convert my SE/FFXI account from US to EU already. You know, I jumped through hoops to import all that stuff so I can play your game and give you money already when it wasn't released in Europe, and now when your games and expansions get released simultaneously worldwide, I still have to put up with annoying fake addresses and importing.
kthxbai!
Wait what? SE IDs and codes are region locked as well?
