I don't understand why they would bottle neck the alpha so much with only 4 hour test periods. Of course, thousands of testers logging in at exactly 9pm will congest things, don'tcha think???

I still think they are shooting for 2010 but if Alpha gets pushed back or Beta etc, they will obviously push the game back. I'd like a sooner release than later but I don't want to see them sacrifice content or classes (a la Warhammer) just so they can release it sooner.

8 hours multiplied by 3 testing areas equals a full 24 hours. That means they'll need at least 3-4 shifts of people working on the game at all times.

They should cut the groups into 2 and allow the first half to log in for the first 2 hours and the second half in the last 2.

Square Enix has 8 months to test FFXIV, it'll definately come out in 2010. Besides, right after open beta ends it'll begin service.
