I read those Html things, and I have to say that many of those testers need to pass a basic IQ test to stay in the alpha.

i like to think of most alpha testers as something along the lines of lab rats. you dont need them to be smart, you just need them to follow the cheese i.e play the game. the rare testers that actualy show signs of intellect are the ones SE listens to. they dont get cheese, they get doritos flavored how they like it.
get my anology? no? me niether, just sounds good.![]()
Actually if you wouldn't mind PM'ing me the link for the installer Fred.. I'd appreciate it.. Staring at the login screen would be cool or in case some miracle happens and I get an invite.

Getting a link to download the client off the test website from a tester won't work. The link only stays active for a very short period of time.
If I tried to run FFXIV on the Laptop I'm using right now, my house would probably blow up =/
based on the posts i've read so far it sounds like conjurer abilities like aero etc have decreased damage when used by other classes like gladiator due to the stats on the weapons of the melee classes which typically increase stats such as strength. has anyone seen any melee weapons with magic buffs?

Yeah you complete, ignorant fools!
That's cause... Fairy players got the chance to server swap to Hades quite a while back. And all these people who did swap did it due to gil buying/scamming/their personal picture being posted when they look like chris farley had a baby with a fire hydrant/people who were just well known idiots.
= Lots of retards from other servers

I have the magazine, and have read the article several times.
You haven't actually played XIII, have you? It's world may be massive, but you don't interact with most of it. Unlike XIV, where as a MMO, you're going to. The scale of the world in terms in area may be similar to each other, but definitely not on how much you can actually go to.
Again, comparing the two is irrelevant. Their end product and intentions will be different.
Remember that most testers haven't had a lot of opportunity to do much leveling, and the only weapons available so far are store bought ones. On top of that, I haven't heard of many testers getting much higher than about rank 5-8.
FFXI and FFXIV are obviously different games, but think how many items of gear you could find before level 10 (or even 20) in FFXI that were any good.

Considering that DoW weapons have melee stats even at rank 0 and DoM weapons have magic stats at rank 0... I think we can expect much better itemization in 14 vs 11.
I also seriously doubt you will be farming NMs for drops unless its tied to a guildleve, and if its tied to a guildleve you can go do other things waiting for that guildleve to be available again rather than afking in a spot while rewatching old seasons of lost. Heres hoping for 15 man party HNM guildleves? Also, since its an instanced guildleve, how about shitty linkshells wont be able to zombie tactic endgame with 0 skill and then through drop rate luck get a d ring, ridill, e body, etc and piss off everyone?
Speaking of guildleves, I'd like to see what happens when they are repeated, reward wise. At lower levels I can imagine the drops being basically the same thing because hopefully they will be leveled past quite quickly, however as the alpha moves on if anyone can approach level 20 and retry some of the higher guildleves or try some of the group guildleves multiple times, I can imagine we will see larger pools of item rewards that are random upon each completion.
All in all, I think the focus of the dev team style wise is exactly the same as what they intended with ffxi, its just with the experience of previous successes and failures all put together. All the talk about wether you can jump, swim, sit in chairs, etc. is funny to me because I'm pretty sure none of those were the qualms that caused players to quit ffxi. What caused people to quit ffxi was poor itemization, job imbalances, lots of standing around doing nothing, etc. Basically, I think the majority of players here are going to be pleased with the final product even if some of the changes in theory dont sound good to you. When you actually get to log into the open/closed beta or final version of the game, and see the actual effect of things that differ from ffxi to a large degree, you will have an understanding of why they made those changes and will appreciate the better gameplay experience it will add overall.
tl;dr... basically, even if something sounds like a bad move to you now, you may change your mind when you actually get to play the game. Oh, and noone quit ffxi because you couldnt jump.
