I have an i5 750 myself and I can assure you it's an extremely good processor, especially at overclocking.

I have a HD 4890 to go with it and ATI definately does give you more for the money.

Now back to FFXIV...

I do appreciate your answer but it doesnt help me too much in choosing. Which one, 2 faster cores or 4 slower ones.

FFXIV related- The DotL and DotH classes confuse me some. SE says they want these classes to have some use in battle (like miner debuffing mineral mobs / TH, Armorer repairing armor in combat, ect.) I dont understand how these classes can have a role in combat. Without them 1) being not worth it or too week 2) being needed only in CERTAIN conditions.

The biggest thing though is, it would be boring to play one in a combat situation and it would not really be ideal. For example lets say miners get that debuff on rock / mineral mobs. Sure they can job a group and debuff and maybe deal some damage. But combat wise they prolly would only have a few abilities and even if they got a lot of abilities they shouldnt do damage on par with a Combat class.

Should crafters / gathers have Guildleves? yes, should they get exp for class/physical? Yes (akin to Aion) should they be wanted for combat? No

What I think would be a good idea though is miners and other DotL / otH classes learn some battle related abilities. When they get high enough level which can then be used on other classes (A gladiator with the miner metal debuff). Also I think the TH on the gathering class is dumb or rather the fact that more miners amplify the effect. I can see it now " People X Y Z change your class at the end of this fight for we can get TH" Random drops do suck but they are exciting.

Now again I can see a miner learning the TH ability at cap or near cap miner level (to make it difficult and worth something) and then using that learned ability on another class.

I suppose my point is I think the crafter classes should learn some combat related abilities that you are then able to equip on combat classes. Crafting classes stay crafting oriented and combat classes stay combat oriented. Sure if you are out on your Miner (cap level) and you get some low level aggro you should be able to kill it. But in a group setting I dont think they should be involved much simply because they shouldnt get to many combat abilities (and if they do why not just make them a combat class).

I thought I read on one of the alpha testers posts or from an interview that there would be supply guildleves, so rather than going out and fighting, you'd have to gather x amount of materials, or make y amount of item.

SE stated that you can equip a DoH to the secondary arm so you can still having mining abilities whilst playing your main class.

You can probably then go back to town switch the weapons over and smelt what you have to skill miner up, plus guildleves.

I don't expect any DoH/DoL to be effective in battle.

Personaly I would go for a 4 core with less processing speed. (try and overclock it maybe)

Edit - MsUnknown can you try equipping a weapon to the secondary arm slot and find out what the difference/whether there is any resatrictions, for example putting a Bow in the secondary and a mining tool in the main or vice versa.

I like that DoH/DoL abilities can be used as a secondary in combat rather then primary.

Also Im still confused on how these "unconfirmed" classes are "confirmed" I.E. Shp Msk ect ect. Just because they are in the client files doesnt mean they are new classes, it could be a number of things. NPC classes, mistranslation, probable classes that might come out ect.

Though I wholeheartedly agree most of the evidence is convincing. I just dont wana get my hopes up.
