I figured that much, but assumed if you don't meet minimum requirements = can't run game (ie pointless picking testers that can't test).

Or am I wrong and you can run it, just looks a bit more wanky/doesn't run as smooth?

In general, minimum system requirements are usually the lowest you can run the game reasonably well at low settings. Most of the time games don't lock you out from actually launching it unless your specs are substantially lower than the minimum requirements. In a lot of cases if you're slightly low on some end you may still be able to run it ok. These are generally just the lowest specs that they've tested the game to run well at.

Again that's just in general, though, not specifically relating to this alpha.

That's never the case unless a piece of hardware lacks some functionality.

alpha stage usually needs higher requirements b/c developers didn't have the chance to optimize the version yet. (at least that's with offline games afair)

I'm getting it this Saturday at Microcenter along with all the other parts.

PSU: 700W whichever is decent and not overpriced. Get a 750W so you'll be safe in case you'll get an HD5970
CPU: i7 930 (Microcenter has 920 at $200 and $930 at 230. lol) w/ H50 pump I hate you :D
Mobo: ASUS P6X58D Premium (Not sure yet, might settle on something cheaper. Thoughts?) Same I got, its good and it already supports Intel 6core CPU
Ram: 6GB DDR 1600 Corsair Dominator 3x2GB (TR3X6G1600C8D) doesnt work with that mobo, had this issue and bought Kingston
HDD1: Corsair R60 60GB SSD (Win 7 and FFXIV only. Though judging from Specs above: might need to redirect FFXIV to the My Documents folder on the second hard drive. Probably quick registry fix.) Just get a Velociraptor 300gb instead of an SSD. They are incredibly fast when they are emply but they goes shit when they are full and they cost too much still...

Not bad at all considering they've stated that the alpha isn't even optimized yet. So this is fine. The system parts I had selected for my other half's FFXIV rig was this plus some, so now I can proceed to build with confidence. For my own PC, all I really wanted to do was change over to a quad core since the graphics card exceeds alpha requirements.

Yes, as long as you have the drivers required to make the controller work at all.

Is S-E trolling us yet again or was the date on the last pic a mistake/forum fuckup?

its really as easy as he said. install drivers(find them online) been around for some time now. you can do it with a 360 one too if you like it more. I forget someone played FF11 with a wii controller even at some point lol.

what were you doing that was using 5.8 GB? Running Aion on Max settings I still only used 3 GB. . .
