If the goal is just to run it, I wouldn't worry about any of this, but making it look as good as the screenshots & trailers while running at a decent clip might be want necessitates a massive upgrade.

well yeah even if 8800 is the minimum for alpha I really doubt it will be the minimum come retail release since 8800 cards are still pretty powerful just lacking in some of the extra features of newer cards and would most likely be recommended or more

If SE is intelligent in the least FFXIV will be designed to reduce the usefulness of bots and come with its own windower already (honestly if you can't alt-tab out of FFXIV without another program I'm not going to be getting the game lol).

this is one thing i'd probably urge beta testers to feedback about. basic functionality of the game to allow for multi-tasking. a lot of people initially didn't go to Windower in XI because they wanted to but because they had to.

I mean, its ridiculously restrictive to not be able to use the rest of the computer while the game was running, and if u tried, it would just crash the game anyway. That was pure nonsense.

Basic functionality as a program should include a resizeable windowed mode, alt-tab function, paste function. home and end keys working.. basically stuff that has since made it into XI.

Another thing worth giving feedback for is the in-game screenshot tool. If it could capture the images with all the GUI intact OR hidden and at the exact same resolution as play, people would actually use it. Flexibility is key.
I'm glad to know that the GUI components are customizable.. so i'm hoping this is a feature too.

These 2 things alone would negate my need for a windower even in XI. Sure the add-ons are cool and all, but they weren't the reason why people originally hopped onto windowed mode. most people forget that now
