It actually might be slightly different than 11. In 11, even though it rolled for each person, some items could only drop once. Your ridills & such. This seems to suggest that not only will it roll for each person, but each pool generates gear separately. So, even though in practical terms something like a ridill WILL usually drop once, this system may make it possible to drop more than once. So a person who doesn't need it, but gets it can trade it to someone who didn't get it, but needs it. This would give people more chances to obtain an item, yet still restrict item drops to a certain number per person.
All speculation, of course. Even if I'm right, execution of this could still mean 1 for every 10+ people.
Im not too thrilled to hear that "items are distributed randomly to the lists of each member"
To think that if your in a pts based LS and the item ur up for could drop to an @$$ who is more than willing to take the item and keep his mouth shut about it actually dropping. Or when items are worth alot of Gil and a member gets it and LS is keepin a bank to split. Welp sucks for that. Have fun with a world full of FREE FOR ALL MADNESS.
Obviously the solution is to make friends, not accumulate people that you can use to do things with. This game seemed to be structured so that even important things can be done alone, sometimes. I believe this will create an environment that won't force the 'I have to join or form an LS to get anywhere' mindset. Also, with the Battle Regimen system potentially allowing any two class' abilities to create some decent after-effect, you should be able to make a group of any configuration. What this means is you only have to be around people you like and like you back, making such unsavory looting situations far less likely. If such a situation does occur, you can dump him and not have to feel as if you lost something important.
I guess your right but i think its kinda odd that itll be an individual player's Loot pool. Maybe SE will make armor Show for all who can equip or something. and just craftables and stuff be looted randomly. So much to learn. So much indeed. and to be lackin in the alpha/beta key department after 6 years of 11 makes me sad :/. But time will reveal all as it always does.
All we can do is hope that SE has more than just AMAZING gaphics for their player base XDXD.
There's a better system, SE said in an interview that you would be able to check your party's strength vs the enemy party's strength, and it should show as a bar (in a screenshot released by SE).
There's more to it, but it falls under the NDA at top of BG page that SE does not want reposted. Since this information was said by them in a publicly released interview, think it's safe to say again.
The loot system does sound pretty bad in writing, but XI's wasn't bad, and at the very least I'm sure they would do some sort of group system for whatever their equivalent of r/ex gear is. Or at least say what drops and to who, to prevent what someone mentioned above.
I hope the game overall has a better loot system than XI
Yea, I actually never liked the need/greed system in other games because it was easily exploited. Well, I think WAR ? had this option where you could only pick need for the gear your class can use, but in FF something like that doesn't matter :D
WoW has that auto-enabled in random heroics, need before greed. That system is stupid though, as if you have a button that gives you a better chance at money/loot people are always going to press that button. Auto-distribution saves a lot of hassle, and if you get something you don't want, pass it to someone else, or sell it. Not too difficult. Only a problem with EX items.
I'm a bit bothered by the "If your inventory is full, the item is lost"-thing. This, and the fact that you can only invite people in the same area is not something that should exist in a 2010 MMO.
Its something that could exist in a 2010 mmo's alpha.
Here's hoping that alpha testers will actually point to stuff like that and say how can it be made better.
Just give me some sort of alliance leader control to invite and move people around in parties and i'll be happy.
That won't prevent RMT just like it doesn't prevent RMT in ffxiMore items will be Rare/EX in FF14 though, unfortunately, to prevent RMT.
Has the alpha test gone live yet?
