title may be misleading, but if you have been following the game at all you know alpha is first, then closed beta. Head was bitten off because it doesnt take reading an entire thread to figure this out, maybe one page back will give all the info thats needed... 2 pages back for full clarification. But I mean going back less then 10 posts from poster shows that alpha is starting next week.. and a few posts back because then are about alpha starting.

This is grounds for you being more of a dick than I have usually seen you post as. *skip forward through 3 pages of quote wars* You win. Congratulationisms.

Further details regarding the starting date of the Alpha Test phase will be released shortly.

Sure it'll only house maybe 10% of the overall game, but the core systems should be there. Once I can start picking that apart, I'll be a happy camper until launch :D

Yeah, 6 months or so. Definitely looks like Nov-Dec release if all goes well, I've no idea how long are they planning on doing Alpha testing though. Not more than 2 months I'd assume.

Yep, which is why Alpha isn't going to be TOO long or they'll be pushing it with a 2010 release.

Hehe. I'm guessing they really want to hold to that 2010 release date due to that very fact. FFXIV sales and subscription fees for a few months may end up making the SE financials look good before the close of the fiscal year.

Somebody a few pages back (who is in the alpha testing) said that his account page said alpha period was ending on 4/25/10. So, if thats true, looks like focus testing and a small alpha window.. so barring any real issues should have beta starting around early May. And yeah, SE has been promoting a 20101 release from the very beginning... Most companies don't even attempt to toss out a release date unless they are sure, and SE being so adamant about 2010 pretty much confirms it will be this year and not at the end of the fiscal year

It's just a monthly timer, I'm guessing. People who got in on the 9th has april 8th as expiration date.
