Averaging 240-380kb upload and 0kb download for the past 10-15 mins. Anyone else getting this?

I'm all done alpha testing. Client crashes on startup because of my lulzy laptop chipset crap thing, I'm assuming.

Make sure you're up-to-date on all your drivers.. And if that doesn't work, maybe you can lend me your logon credentials. :D

Anyone post/read the information regarding Vista/nVidia ~?

Additionally, we have confirmed an issue with the combination of Windows Vista and NVIDIA GeForce series graphics cards where an error occurs just before the game's opening event, preventing the game from properly running. As a result, the FINAL FANTASY XIV Alpha Version cannot be played on systems featuring this setup. If your PC matches the above criteria, we regret to ask that you please update your system.

Please note that the above settings (Turning Off Shadow Display and Skipping Movies) has been known to help with this issue in some cases.

It has something to do with directx. I don't really see how directx could be out of date for this considering I'm running Windows 7 lol

I just went to Microsoft's website and reinstalled directx.

Kind of odd a DX9 component wouldn't be included with Windows 7 though.

For ppl with no remote connections you need to forward ports on your router.
http://portforward.com/ has a good guide and covers lots of different routers.

I opened ports 55200-55700. Just opening the deafult port (55269 or something) wont help much/at all with remote connections.


Then its just a matter of waiting, mine stabilised after a while and now I have 39+R/14L although speeds are still meh ;; (between 10 and 200 kb/s, mostly around 50ish)

Exactly, since you run Windows 7 you should have run into this issue before quite a few times on DX9 designed products when it happens to disinclude something only DX9 installs.

My directx wasn't up-to-date either, but the install client not only told me that, but downloaded and installed the proper version for me. /shrug
