Serious question

Left something at an acquaintance's place and have since wanted to pick it up. This entire exchange should take a grand total of maybe 40 seconds. Every time I call to see if he's around he says he's out of the house and he'll call me when he gets home, which he invariably fails to do. Today I walked to his place and heard him inside his house despite not answering the phone or responding to texts. I decided not to be a dick and knock the door all pissed while he had some chick over so I just left. Should i have ignored the circumstance completely and just imposed because it's been two fucking weeks for a 2 second deal?

It depends on how much of a fuck you give about the acquaintance (or if there is an important FoaF in between)

Grew up with the guy but he's never been a particularly good friend. I left the bag there because I couldnt carry it around when I was doing him a favor and getting errands done. I don't call or text every day about it but it's been enough to be like "yeah il be home from work at 5:10, come grab it then" since it's not like I'm asking to go over, I just want my damn bag.

So I've known him a while, but he's always been sort of a dick.

The bag has all of my clothes that I need to wash, as a result I've been washing the same 2 and a half outfits for the past 2 weeks. It's been pretty wasteful, monetarily. Granted no more than 10 bucks but even so, that could have been like a lot more clothes done in the first wash.

I'll put it this way. I'm calling him an acquaintance because despite growing up and him being my friend, I'm pissed off enough about this to understand that friends don't really dick other friends like this.

The 2 reasons I didn't knock was because I was fairly sure I wouldn't have been able to say anything and not have it be evident that I was pretty fucking furious and he quite obviously had a bitch over.

Well then, despite dickishness, if he does do equivalent favors for you, be nice, but a little more firm.
Otherwise, if there will be no other fallout, treat him with the same respect you would any random person coming into spam.

He let me crash at his place the night before said errands, which was nice since it was about the time I couldn't really walk and needed the rest. All in all I think I'm just gonna call him tomorrow and pretty much be like "look I've been patient, and I didn't want to even run the risk of cockblocking you yesterday so the least you can do is just tell me when you're going home from work. It'll take like 2 seconds."

I'd just show up around like 7.30pm and knock on his door, bitch or no bitch. Just do it really quickly, go grab your bag and stuff and leave before you let your pissedness out.
