Rakkyo is hardly horror, more like a thriller

Higurashi S1 has pretty amazing shock value and really gory scenes, though S2 doesn't quite have the kick since it's mostly explanation and stuff, but does connect most of S1's dot.

Kinda sad that Umineko which was set up under similar lore and theme is just a bunch of bullshit phoenix wright shit mixed with mozaic'd gore, bunny girl, and annoying loli.

Who didn't LOVE seeing Maria get smacked to shit? It was annoying when it didn't happen and she went all... well you know, but I'll never forget those glorious moments seeing her get beat up.

You can also check out Berserk, although the manga is vastly superior and you'll want to end up reading that. Claymore also has a lot of horror and crazy violence.

Berserk is extremely well done, the anime doesn't do it justice in the slightest. Besides that, Claymore and Higurashi are also very good, but those have already been mentioned.

Edit: Vampire Hunter D - Bloodlust is good too.

Umineko is the kind of show you have to watch, than imagine what it would be like if the writter werent terrible. There is some good episodes, and the concept is original, but shit, the execution was terrible.

I enjoyed it in overall, but I wish I could rewrite the whole script. I could have done better.

Or you do what I did, and try and re-write the dialogue as you watch the show. I mean, I basically ignored everything Maria said and replaced it with my own dialogue. All the fight scenes, while cool were just so cheesy (dialogue wise).

I don't know...we run out of good stuff pretty fast. As much as I'm complaining about wasted potential, it was still better than most show that season.

Mnemosyme is a pretty decent anime for horror. It's more gore and nudity though. : p
