Mysterious Achievement appears in Portal

In today’s update to Portal, something mysterious has happened, radios have appeared throughout the portal world… With some kind of encrypted radio signal.

In today’s patch notes it says

“Changed radio transmission frequency to comply with federal and state spectrum management regulations”

What could this mean? Well we here at the HardLine suspect it to be a secret encryped message detailing something to do with Portal 2.

Reddit user Koushiro posted regarding his efforts

Radios now appear throughout the game and have red lights on the front; when you bring them to particular locations, they turn green, count toward X/26 of the new “Transmission Received” achievement, and play a sound, either morse code or apparently random beeps. Sound files are in the portal content.gcf, files portal/sound/ambient/dinosaur##.wav

Edit: Also, they play a ridiculously creepy noise when you take them through the emancipation grid, dinosaur_fizzle.wav

Well according to the achievement list, no one has figured it out yet. Here’s hoping we are the first.

The only details on Portal 2's multiplayer mode from GameStop are that it will feature its own unique story-driven campaign. The "new mode forces players to reconsider everything they thought they knew about portals," requiring players "to not just act cooperatively, but to think cooperatively."
