Muting sounds/flash sounds in Firefox in Windows 7

I've found a few ways to mute flash windows in Firefox, but they all seem to only work for XP.

Basically, I keep trying to play flash games and listen to something else while I do it. Now, while most have a mute button, but some don't. Oh, and it's hard to play Robot Unicorn Attack on Adult Swim with that song playing over and over.

In Vista, the Sound Mixer (a massive sound control panel) allows you to mute stuff from different applications. God hope they did not take away that functionality in Windows 7, it's one of the things I liked about Vista...

The same instructions should apply to Windows 7.

    Wow, that's awesome. Thanks.

On further inspection, Firefox doesn't show up as one of the applications in the mixer board. Damn it.

Strange, it shows up on mine in Vista for sure.

However it appears to be a known issue:

I do have the latest firefox though instead of the old 3.0 series, and am running Vista 64bit. However in my old system Vista 32bit I also had it working on both.

Aha! The first comment on the page said that Firefox will only show up if something is playing sound out of it. That fixed it. Thanks for the help.
