Chapter 11, Helping hands. After you beat Hecatoncheir (who was a bitch) and make your way past atomos, you come to that water area with the islands. You make the islands come up by pissing off the fal'cie, and you go back to the first islands to fight the mobs that come up with the islands.... what is your setup for doing this? My group eats shit quickly... probably should've grinded CP back in chapter 10. I'm using Lightning, Hope and Snow... any suggestions?

I won't lie, those mobs drove me fucking crazy too since they summon little friends and generally fuck your shit up with really fast attacks. If you have a strong enough Saboteur, you can neutralize their attacks with Pain (not sure what the 'stop physical attacks' spell is called in the localization) but you have to do it quick. I gave up on the fight after about 5 wipes but here's the basic strategy for the 3xOrobon 2xRaptor pack: Load up on defensive accessories on everybody and use a defender in the group (SAB+SEN+MED), making the SAB your group leader to target the Orobon and about half of the little guys with Pain, then switch to an offensive Paradigm and kill the raptors (the ones that aren't summoned in) first, then the summoned guys, then the 3 big ones. Don't ever ever let Pain drop

Why is this? Just because of the graphics? I can't see how the gameplay would differ that much from the PS3 version...

If you have both a 360 and PS3 there is no reason not to buy the PS3 version.

If you don't own a PS3 and don't want to buy a PS3 there's no reason to buy a PS3 just for FFXIII. Buy a PS3 when there is a better game you absolutely have to play out on it (like God of War 3).

I ended up using my same setup, and using blitz and ruinga. ruinga pops all the small guys in the air, which KEEPS THEM FROM DOING DAMAGE. After i got most of them out of the way, I brought in Odin and did what I could there, and once I got it down to only the orobon, it was easy. Thanks for the pointers, though :D

Oh if you learned Ruinga yeah there's no reason not to spam the shit out of it on large packs of little guys (comes in real handy much later on too). Ruinga is probably the most broken spell in the game :D

yeah, shit is broken. What setup did you normally go with? i'm usually rocking commando, tank and healer, until shit gets thin. Then switch to 2 ravager and a commando to get them yellow, and 2 commando and ravager to finish them. Only problem is, I normally don't kill fast enough to get good drops.

you can break down existing items for parts used to upgrade others. I mean, sell NOTHING. Sell weapons you wont use, and that's it. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade. i'm regretting it now, I only have 1 weapon at lvl 20, and it's obvious that I should be killing faster.

Hope's buffs aren't as strong as Sazh's (Sazh learns Haste sooner) but he'll do against most enemies where attacking fast isn't as important as debuffing the shit out of enemies, and Fang is a strong character overall: SEN/COM/SAB is an extremely potent combo in one character, and being able to switch my team from SAB-SAB-MED to COM-RAV-RAV is my bread and butter, with SEN-MED-MED ready for when shit happens. Fang's my anchor for most of my teams unless I need dual SYN for some boss fights. The main weakness of my setup is the low HP totals on Vanille/Hope but I just stack +HP items on them and problem solved.
