There happen to be a torrent of the guide up yet, by chance?

wtf is the point of stagger lock? why would you PREVENT this?
Ugh, my PS3 is over my brothers, (I let him use it since he has a bitchin' LED monitor with a sweet setup, and my setup is for my PC), so I'll have to dedicate a lot of free time between gaming over there with this and juggling raiding in WoW back home.
May the RPG genre never die! I never get tired of swords and sorcery.
4 more hours till I can get my copy and the time is going by so fucking slow. I don't care how linear it is, I'm still gonna enjoy the game regardless. Only thing I have a problem with is the lack of mobs, from what I'm told there's only 64 total mobs in the game? Not sure if true or not, but that seems pretty low for a FF game I think.
I thought I was on the same boat as you as well... but the more the story and battle system evolve, the more I enjoy the game and the more I start caring less about any free roaming. Yes, the game is very linear, but it also works quite well.
And besides, from what I understand you eventually have all the free roaming you want (chapter 10 or 11 or so), where you'll have many side quests and farming and whatnot. So I think they set it up quite nicely.
And besides, I'm glad Square keeps trying new and innovative things with the FF series... I certainly like what they did with FF13 more than I did with FF12, and that game had all the free roaming you could possibly want.
is it better to buy new weapons or to upgrade other weps?
which blade are you guys using for lightning?
Just hit the point where paradigms and the crystarium open up to me (damn that has severe shades of sphere grids lol). Have given the PS3 over to OH cos he gets upset if storylines etc get spoiled so I'm going to be getting small doses for a while now.
I don't know why but lots of it does tend to bring FFX to mind to me in terms of the overall feel of certain game elements.
Loving the baby chocobo though - so cute and absurd.
For anyone who played Japanese version and is buying US version, looks like they're the same (i.e. you don't get a different set of trophies like normal for different region releases), and all the "Extra" content was unlocked from my Japanese save, but I it doesn't actually let you load them(which is kind of a disappointment).
Just a minor thing some people might care about, kind of regret not dumping my JP copy now.
Save your money, you get most weapons from treasure boxes during the course of the game. There are very few weapons you can only acquire from shops and some of them are pretty bad. Money is tight for most of the game and you're far better off saving it to upgrade your shit rather than buy a level 1 weapon with awful bonuses.
Yeah so I love the FF4 reference in the game palumpolom lol
Is there a trophy guide out for missables?
How big is the Skills/ability cutomization
Is it like exemple FFX where each character learns different abilities and later in the game you can mix and match?
or maybe like FFXII where anyone can learn anything
or like FFIX where some spells/abilities are reserved to some specific characters?
Just got back with the disc. I don't think I'll be seeing sunlight today.
If you play this FF like you played every SNES FF you've ever played you are unlikely to really miss anything. Almost everything found in chapter 11 onwards can be backtracked to. If you miss something in chapters 1-10 you simply did not explore enough.
The real missable of the game is certain areas of the very final dungeon, a guide for which would be a little annoying to write out in text since the maps in the game are so useless. Someone's going to have to recreate the map. I could theoretically scan the pages out of my Ultimania guide and translate but that'd take me a while. Maybe the collector's guide would be an easier scan.
omg this flower boss...
