She's an I'Cie from the first time you meet her, hence why she had one more ATB gauge than Hope. As such, it is likely she hid the weapon behind the pillar beforehand. Both she and Fang were born on Pulse and are partners, achieved their focus, and became crystalized. After some time, they woke up on Cocoon (likely because they were transported there like Serah were).

I gathered as much in Vanille's case (noticed the ATB bar, but didnt connect that right away) and had an idea about that in Fangs case since I thought they were both from Pulse.

Glad its at least explained though later on, I can stop fussing about it from a writing and storytelling perspective then.

I just wanna know what happens if an I'Cie that has completed its focus and become crystalized, then retain human form again, dies. I mean, he/she has already completed its focus, so do they just die? Or do they become Cie'th like the other I'Cie that dies?

Completed focus and uncrystalized (and I believe the fal'Cie decides when this happens) basically just means you're done and free to go, so normal death. You only become a Cie'th if you fail your focus

Sup? After holding out on grinding till chapter 11, I'm now capped for 5 jobs, did some missions and found some gold nuggets with chocobo digging which are worth 60k and not used for anything else so I got to upgrade my weapons some more. Entered Gran Pulse on the 19 hour mark and I'm now at the 35 hour mark lol. I love chapter 11, so much fun to be had.

I had a doom scenario on the boss fight halfway through chapter 10 (you know who). Wiped on the first try because of that Doom, then wiped 3 times just getting assraped by his combo. Fifth time Doom again on my ass, won with 200 left on the counter. Remember the fuck being alot easier on my JP game since I had capped jobs at that point.

Does attaining a new 'Role Level' have an an actual effect? There are two role level advancements on one of Sazh's Attacker/Commando levels which has me wondering. That level is really cluttered with crystals.

For anyone who has played through and beaten the JPN version (no spoiler please) what is a rough estimate on how long it will take to 100% complete everything? Only played 2.5hrs last night and almost on chapter 3 out of 15, has me a little worried on this being shorter then expected. I am guessing future chapters are longer?

The points start at 10000. The target time is the time you need to beat. If you get a completed time lower than the target time, the remaining seconds are multiplied with the "Points per second" bonus. On top of it, you get a 1.2 multiplier to your total points when you preemptive attack.

The ranking is based on the points.

For every second past the Target Time, you lose points. As such, if the target time is 2 min, the points per second is 100, and you complete it in 2 min 10 sec, you will get 10000-10x100=9000 points. You get 3 stars at ~10000 points, so if you beat it at the target time you get 3 stars.

Im almost done with chapter 3, as a long time final fantasy fan I have mixed feelings on it. On one hand it has been fairly entertaining and the graphics are gorgeous. But i feel like im just spamming the x button battle to battle until i get to the next cutscene.

Also, none of the characters seem that "bad ass" to me and feel very JP anime (hairstyles, cutscenes) I prefer the medieval look of some previous games.

Hopefully it picks up but I havnt felt the omgepic moment yet and for some strange reason I have the urge to go back and play 12 again

I have also been taking it slow and checking everything out (may be closer to 3hrs I have played can't check atm) as I go along, just hoping I will be able to find ways I can pour 60-100hrs into it by completing everything. I would hate to 100% this in 30hrs. I have a few games with 90%+ in trophies but this will be my first platinum.

As far as the description in the datalog goes there is an average target time to beat each fight hit it get average stars, faster gets you more stars slower gets you less. So that seems to be the only factor.

No idea what the points are for, but I'm thinking drop rate increases, and certain items only drop if you get a 5-star ranking.
