The attention to detail that only a game of this graphical level can achieve is really impressive to me.
Also, why so much hate on Hope, Vanille, and other dumb things? For real? As of chapter 9 I actually care for ALL the main characters AND most of the sub characters too, where as in other FF's you care for the 2 leads, and maybe one or two others...and thats it. The writers AND voice talent have done an amazing job, storytelling wise, fleshing out everything we see and they speak and making it real.
is there a way to flee battles
FF12 wasn't japan-y or anime-ish. (aside from the addition of Vaan [who actually mellows out quite a bit after Jahara and is no longer all Japan-y aside from his look] and Penelo)
Just sayin'
Dammmmn lol sucks I cant play with Vanille as lead worth shit cause her summon animation & gestalt mode are freakin awesome.

and no, cant flee, but game autosaves before a battle anyway, so not really neccesary
Lose and Retry. No Flee option or ability.
You can just pause it and hit Retry.
there are some battles I don't want to retry, and I want to run away from and not have to do, hence flee >_>
Retry puts you outside of the field before the battle takes place. Just avoid the mobs. Deceptisol helps.
God I love this game. The story, the voice acting, the lip syncing, the seamless transitions and everything else that is just pure eye candy. Really this is probably the best FF in such a long time. I don't know why people were bitching about the linearity; it gave all the characters such depth, and it's not like the entire game is that 1-way. At times it feels a lot like I'm playing a movie, and I love it, lol. Oh, and special mention to doing away completely with the dialog boxes and having everyone have a voice all the time.
They are trying to pull in more casual rpg players/girls.
They do IX which is a throwback to classic FF's and it doesn't sell as well as VII/VIII
X to X-2 is square getting more and more accessible to casual players. They sell well. Then they do FFXII which had the open world and the complex gambit system and people complained/hated it.
They go back to Linear pop songs and eye candy and say fuck pleasing everyone yo, let's make sexy games that sell well and cross over to people who maybe never played rpgs but think snow is hot, or buy Leona Lewis CD's.
Quoted for both truth and emphasis.
The linearity hasn't bothered me the slightest. Honestly, character development in this game is phenomenal. This is the FIRST FF in a LONG time where I actually care and WANT to use every single one of my characters. HATE that I'm only limited to using 3 in battle QQ.
I came into the game expecting to be REALLY turned off by the linearity, but honestly it doesn't bother me.
I am wondering if I'm gonna want to replay it after I finish it..
Also this is the first game other than ME2 that I would buy any and all DLC day one
