I think it's just, if you (or your party) do lower damage, you'll take longer, and since the score is calculated by time taken you'll get more points for having longer battles. If your battles are quick, you don't get as many points, since they don't have time to accumulate.

I'm sure someone else can explain it better or correct me if I'm wrong on that.

determines whether you get 5 stars or not. Anything above 13000 is 5 stars I think.

lower-ranking weapons could hurt or harm your battle ranking, depending on how much they boost your target time vs. how much slower they make you kill.

target time is determined by the enemy party's combined strength vs. your party's combined strength. so if you use weaker weapons, your combined strength is lower, giving you a higher target time. but you'll also kill more slowly.

I remember somebody saying that your battle rating time is depending on your character str/magic (dunno if just based on weapon or accessories also).. so I'm just curious if this only factors in your PT lead or your entire PT's stats

It's entire party. I often would keep Kain's* on Fang while using just junk lvl1 weapons on Light and Hope while 5-starring missions. The target times were pretty significantly different using low level weapons on my AI party members than if they were using Omega/Nue.

Just got mah platinum, took around 60 hours but was my 2nd play.

Edit: I ditched the - damage when I was farming the Long's, fucking Fang was hitting for 500k+ when I had them at 999.99% shit was funny.

Question- you can start a new game + (with previous gear?)

It just starts you before the final boss and you can tele back to GP and eden. You keep gear and 'levels'.

I got back into it tonight and got some more missions done.

I'm hitting a wall at 09 & 12 though. Both NMs seem to be able to one shot me.

Is there a lower end place to farm or grind a bit? What are some good parties or paradigms for that range?

Strat:
I suggest at this lvl Light/Sazh/Fang

pre emptive 100% of the time.
RAV/SYN/COM stagger behe right away.
Don't paradigm shift until Fang (or yoru COM) Launches it.
PS to COM/RAV/COM once at least Light has Haste on, which would mean 2/3 of you at least do, can probably wait til Fang gets it too.
Pummel the Behe, if it stands up just retry. Keep in the air as much as possible, might have to hit Triangle for this early on
Once behe is down taking down the wolf is easy.

This is harder early on but doable I think, and gets a lil easier each time, I farmed some ridiculous CP there and got kill time down to like 45s.

Or you could use 3 COMs from the start and kill them in 15 seconds or less. Sprint Shoes and other such accessories come in handy here for buffs.

He's just starting to farm them, I doubt he'd made much progress rocking 3 COM's from the outset. It usually takes me two RAV's to get the behe staggered and a COM to launch it.

Can I just say that the Ch 10 Ark (I know I'm slow - been away and work killed my game time) is the most longest, tedious, re-use the same fucking section twenty times, section of a videogame I've seen in a long ass time (since certain bits of FF7 spring to mind).

If you use a shroud before a fight and then die and choose retry do you get the shroud back? I'm trying to do the Ochu mission 55 fight so I'm getting owned and retrying often so if you can get it back I will shroud up before.

Why not just save and reload just in case, there is a save point right behind the mark location.

Oh and I have a tetradic tiara equipped to my sentinel to survive the early burst dmg but the buffs run out pretty quick. It's not upgraded to star level so does upgrading it the one level increase the buff uptime? Does death work even if you don't use libra?

Yes death will work even if you dont libra it and no a fully upgraded tiara wont increase its duration. But the saving and reloading was just in case you lose your shrouds.
