Wait, you hate the bird-men, but don't hate Vetalas with their stupid inertial barrier? Even staggering with ravagers when the shield is up and beating them down with commandos when the shield is down takes significantly longer than most fights. I just recently completed chapter 11 and Vetalas win my vote for the most annoying mob so far.

I hated Vetalas until I got Army of One. Beating them down in one stagger (especially since they cheat and put that barrier back up BEFORE the stagger is over) is so goddamn satisfying that I don't even mind fighting them anymore.

You don't have them BOTH on do you? They cancel each other out. I believe the rare is for traps, but I got much better luck without any. Tried rare for a long time and got nothing. A while later I fought one and forgot to put it on again. It dropped. Did the same thing later and got more.

Got the chance to play a bit more last night. Fought Bartv2. Granted, I had done some Grinding in GP while doing missions, but the fight didn't seem all that bad. Just one of those fights there is no way to rush through. Almost beat him first try, but got a little overzealous and tried to eek out that last sliver over damange and he took me out. Retried and whooped his ass. Unlocked Army of One, and OMG is it awesome. Gonna play around with Vanille and death tonight.

Go with the normal one full-time, atleast if you're going for the Treasure Hunter-trophy. You only need 6 Traps, and you'll probably have 6 long before you have enough money to upgrade everything anyway.

I just got Aurora Scarves and Sprint Shoes for my main three and Auto-Bravery for Fang/Light. They have around 4000 HP, Hope has around 3000. What point can I start killing the Ochu for the egg? It's gonna take ages farming the Behemoth/Wolf without it.

I think I had Snow with ~10k HP, with a bunch of -physical damage taken accs, and it was still pretty dangerous. The hard part of the fight is surviving the adds after the Ochu is dead, take it slow and keep SEN+MED at all times untill most of them are dead.

It shouldn't be that bad. at -30% phys dmg on Fang (~9k hp), she went into yellow but never any lower with rav, sen, med combo.

Only shitty thing is death can take forever to proc... and you have to retry once it uses screech.

They don't cancel each other out. When an enemy is killed it checks for a rare drop (helped by Connoisseur Catalog) and if there is no rare drop it checks for regular drop (helped by Collector Catalog).

That still theoretically gives you slightly less chance because there's more chance of it not even getting to the common drop.

It's really a personal decision, I've heard all over the board about some people getting way more traps than they need, and some getting plenty platinum and no traps.


Personally, I'm getting like a perfect ratio of traps to platinum, so I'm sticking with both.

I used Van/Fang/Snow (SAB/SEN/SEN) to start the fight. Stuck two General's Belts on both SEN's (4) but it didn't matter because Van would get one-shotted as soon as the fight started (~5000HP)

I said fuck it and went ahead with chapter 12-13.

Finally got a trapezythingee to drop - going to do the tripling it trick if another one doesn't drop while farming plat ingots and CP anyway - I either get three, or one very nice poking stick.

I'd never do the tripling thing... money is just too precious in this game. I think before you have money to upgrade all your 6 weapons you'll have 6 traps, easily.

I've basically been "sitting" on 1 extra trap the whole time.

As soon as I get a 2nd, I upgrade something.


If I ever get to the point where I have enough money to do the rest of my upgrades, then I'll do the trap duping thing. Otherwise like I said a few posts ago, I've pretty much been getting a perfect ratio of traps to gil.

Sucks, seems like they could really easily sell like new sets of titan trials for $5 and they'd take barely any work at all.

oh, and, yeah...

I was over by the wolf/behe grinding CP. Saw the top of a hill move and I was like "holy crap, is that a turtle so huge I can see the top of it over that hill?"

So I walk up to the hill to look, and I see it's Titan... (long before I saw him in the trials) like 10x as far away as I thought the turtle was.

I was like holy fucking shit... omg I can't wait to fight that thing. Even tried to run over to it just to engage and get owned just to see how badass it was.

I'd prob pay $5 just to fight him lol.

If you have Growth Egg (Hell even without it) I would just farm for Traps and get your CP that way, rather then grind it on mobs that don't really give you anything else. I was at full Crystarium (once maxed I removed Growth Egg) and still managed to get to 999,999 CP before I had all 6 Traps from the Adamantoise'. I may have got unlucky with my drop-rate but I would farm Traps and use that CP so you don't let it go to waste.

Yeah, both Attacus and the M64-guy are pretty dissapointing. Was expecting something grander.

Attacus was atleast somewhat of a unique mob. Only 2-3 encounters with it. I was really sad to see that M64 was those flying things I've fought so many times already.
