so I was basically on the money with my original strategy. I was just having trouble getting a Highwind in before the shield went up, meaning I wasn't staggering fast enough, probably because I was spending too much time with unnecessary buffs.

I think they could've handled both Jihl and Rosch better really in terms of their deaths. How many people thought Rosch died at the end of Chapter 7? No reason for a scene to be so ambiguous like that when you barely even know who he is at that point. And Jihl... well I wanted to kick her ass. So muh!

That may be related to whatever you were doing with "forcing" him to end bubble. I would basically heal, fix buffs, and jump to sab and he'd be ending the bubble.

As far as the debuffs, with triple sab deshell/deprotect/imperil should land near instantly (you may want to just manually imperil while the other 2 get depro/deshell). It's basically just 1 round of debuffs then rav, and honestly the most important part of the debuffing is really just locking in the chain maintenance. Once he's staggered it's honestly a little disappointing how fast he goes down to tri-com even without depro.

I agree about Attacus being disappointing too, once you get him to 5-600 chain it's just like... wow, he's going down like a 2 dollar whore.

by the time ur done farming ignots u will have well more then 6 traps (if you didnt do the dismantle idea). And frankly, if your having issues getting traps, you can upgrade everything else, then just save > dismantle genji gloves > get achievement > go back to previous save

Define "Done". If by done you mean capping all 6 ultimates to level 100, then sure. But if you mean getting the Platinum Trophy then nope.

I need exactly 3 more Platinum Ingots (to buy the three Adamantite I need) and 3 more Trapezohedrons to finish my Trophy collection. I'll likely do the Genji/Reset method once I get the three Platinums.

yeah I forced him to pull down his shield by using debuffs. maybe I'm just crazy but I'm fairly certain he'd take it down a lot earlier if I started tossing some debuffs at him.

I'm not worried though. with the gold watch, it's only a matter of time until I get that platinum. but I reiterate: stupid fucking wedding. I'd have it this weekend if I weren't going to be spending the better part of it wasted in Wisconsin... which isn't all bad I guess.

Actually yes.
By the time I got my 6 Traps and got each ultimate weapon (I didn't even bother maxing them out, it's pointless) I had enough money to get the trophy.
I just saved, started to upgrade and sold anything I didn't need anymore.
I didn't bother farming traps on Adamantoises and just waited for Long Guis since they have a significantly higher drop rate, Crystarium wasn't even maxed out when I started.

I think it took ~15 Long Guis tops to be done, and since I had plenty of Ethersols and Fortisols left it didn't take too long.
I was lucky on drop rates though, a more realistic number should be 25-30.

I wasn't implying that you CAN'T end up with a surplus Traps, I'm implying that your statement that you SHOULD have a surplus is flawed. Your second proposition on the other hand is truth, temporarly melting down Genjis or Ultimate weapons is the key for us who finish the gil requirement way ahead of the Trap requirement.

On Mission 30 - Syphax, The Insidious

Once I am in Mah'habarara the blue jump spot isn't there for me to get across the bridge to the path I need to go. Is there something I missed that allows me to cross that path? I took about a 3 week break from this game and not sure if I skipped a mission or what.

You need to get Atomos to get there, he provides his body as a jumping off platform. I think you probably need to go to the Springs (or whatever they are called) and ride him back to Muhababababa.

I must add that if you haven't tried the Vanille Death during Stagger strategy against Long Gui's, you haven't lived. Seeing 999,999 pop up 6-8 times during a stagger is sweet

Figured I was strong enough to kill turtles w/o death, and watched that vid of Sazh killing them at lower levels. Been doing that basically and owning them. It's a hell of a lot faster than spamming death IMO and more consistent if you're aiming for CP.

What method uses Sazh? Youtube link please? Spamming Death is getting kind of boring to me already.

This might be the wrong place to ask this, buts whats the Red Cie'th stone for on the, I guess West side of the map, in the Archylte Stepe, in the tunnel by itself with the red barrier?

Usually if there's a Cie'th stone by a red barrier then it will unlock the barrier once you clear that mission.

quick question (or maybe not) but now that i'm getting sorta towards the end of the game i'm trying to start building my end-game gear but i honestly haven't the slightest what's going to end up being the most useful equipment, so my question is what are some of the most useful accessories and weapons to upgrade for a lightning/fang/hope team? i'd imagine either the axis blade or lionhart for lightning, but hope and fang i don't even know where to start, and i don't know how the accessories are going to end up once upgraded but i'd imagine something like an auto-haste/prot/shell/brave/faith type accessory, maybe some of the +str/magic ones?

in any case i'm trying to cut down on the amount of crafting materials i'm going to waste upgrading because i definitely spent a lot on some early-game items that i'd like back.
