BG TAX - Making Work Pay Tax Credit

Last night I did my taxes and was content I was getting back a nice chunk of change. Well turns out I almost missed out on a $400 tax credit, which thankfully was caught by HR Block's e-file service.

If you e-file, double check to make sure your service catches this credit. If you usually do your taxes by hand, you'll want to pick up a copy of Schedule M & the instructions to file along with your regular tax return. The credit does get reduced if you have a high income or received an economic recovery payment, SSI, disability, or certain retirement payments during the year (I don't think we have to worry about retirement payments heh)..

Yeah I was originally going to owe about 400 on the year so this credit came in nice and handy this year.

I got back $900, nice for being in college...

But it's all going towards buying my next set of books this fall. $800 for books is /sigh.

For some reason it took less off each paycheck so I got back less in the end
