How to drink Absinthe?

So I just picked up a 100ml bottle of Grande Absente and I want to make sure I prepare it properly. Also curious if anyone else has tried this brand of Absinthe before, and how they liked it. I am looking to get the most out of it as far as hallucinogen affects, if it has any.

Don't count on any hallucinations, the concept is subjective with the individual.

Absinthe/gin/tequila shot, dip in beer. Down it in one go, rinse and repeat. Or, just straight shots.

This tells me what you have doesn't have any hallucinogens in it and therefore it doesn't matter how you drink it. Just drink it like you would any liquor, or pour it over a sugar cube in an absinthe spoon if you want that 'this is how they used to do it' feel.

Thujone isn't even hallucinogenic and isn't really present in high quantities in absinthe anyways.

most absinthe is pretty low on wormwood content, from what I recall. but maybe that's changed over the past few years. I know when it was legalized it was all a big joke.

Properly made absinthe was never really high in thujone. Some of the European stuff is higher than before it was banned.

Even "real" absinthe won't make you hallucinate. Buy some shrooms, probably costs about the same.

Go return it, if its from a North American shelf because it ain't the real thing. If you really must drink it find a slotted spoon. Put some sugar on the spoon, heat the spoon and let the syrup drip into the glass of absinthe & ice. Consume and get drunk and wonder why u spent $100 on a bottle.

If you're lucky to get a bottle from the eastern Europe, well then that's a different story. Chasing the Fairies is fun. Lol.

When I did Absinthe years ago, we started off with the whole complicated process of fire, spoons, sugar, etc. It seemed entirely pointless and made us feel like perverse druggies, so we ended up just drinking it straight. The kind we had was pretty strong, I'll grab a pic of the bottle

The best I can say is we felt "strange" after drinking it, but that could have just been the fact that it tasted like drinking grass and is relatively high for alcohol content. Altogether no more memorable than just drinking some ecto-cooler Hi-C with everclear in it, yeahhhhhhh

I kept the bottle because it looks awesome, my friend took his and highlighted it all over with green highlighter, pretty cool looking in the right lighting (blacklight?)
