if you read the beta thread, there was a lot of "BAWWWW I've had a paying subscription for 6 years, and I didn't get alpha. I guess SE doesn't think I'm a loyal customer" posts. I can't imagine people complaining more than they already have.

Nope, waiting till I hear before I update my beta info, just in case. Don't want them to be looking and my re-app process for some reasons makes them unable to find it.

"Winners" list is submitted and the beta download starts on 11th...should be today or tomorrow.

It was in the email where it says when the beta site goes live you can download the client. Whether or not that changes is to be seen.

Announcements, a play guide, client download, and other important
information related to the testing process will all be posted on the

below that, it tells when the beta site goes live, i can see where one might read that to mean the beta client will be available on the 11th

What would be the point? Don't know why you think that's even an option. If the site - the means of downloading and reporting bugs and other various discussion - is going live, why would the test not be? The two go hand in hand.

dunno, but the client dl isnt on the 11th, things can change from now til tomorrow but dont expect to be playing 14 tomorrow

Unless SE is actively trying to rape their own distribution servers, they're not going to release the client and open the servers for use on the same day.

I don't think it ever explicitly said the client download isn't on the 11th.

Personally I'd expect the client download to be available when the site goes live, then I'd expect the alpha to start either this weekend or next weekend. They could easily take everything live tomorrow though... If their servers can't handle the client download and the few thousand testers they're screwed for the release.

who cares, alpha will start when it starts. if it just so happens to go live at the same time that the download is made available, cool. if not, cool. how about waiting till tomorrow to find out for sure instead of pointlessly debating about it

ah, i see what you're saying. release the client, allow people to have it ready for whenever they decide to start the first live test. its possible, all ive been privvy to is that the test doesnt start tomorrow

Actually, it is. While it is listed ambiguously under step 1 as one of the many things that will be done on the tester site, it is listed unambiguously under step 4 of things to do the moment you sign in.

if the client is available to download tomorrow then i'll guess the first alpha starts either this weekend or early next week, to give people time to download it and get it installed.

they aren't gonna launch a website, a client download, and an alpha test phase all at once. server will explode so much shit is trying to happen at the same time

more likely they will launch it a little at time, let people get the download and install the client, then shortly afterward turn the alpha server or w/e online so people can play. Until then at least people will be able to launch ffxiv and look at the pretty login screen

yeah, my whole point i was trying to make was that the test doesnt start on the 11th, i know i typed the client dl won't be ready but for some reason i typed it out that way.. probably because i had that connected to "playing the game" in my mind
