Was curious if anyone else was into these films as much as i am. More importantly, looking for some recommendations of some that i may have not seen or heard of. Opinions of your favorites and ones you dislike. I'll leave out the Guy Ritchie movies since they're all relatively recent, even though i did enjoy them.

Brief list of what i've seen:

Get Carter (original of course)
Long Good Friday
Sexy Beast
Layer Cake
I'll Sleep When I'm Dead
Gangster No.1
Transporter (first 1 only)
Croupier (dunno if it even fits here)

It's pretty good, at least I enjoyed it. It's based on a true story and has Jason Statham in it.

Shoot'em up.

It might not be what you want, but it was an awesome movie to watch with friends while drinking.

And if you like Statham, don't forget Crank 1 and Crank 2. They were kinda epic, in a ridiculous way.

Shoot'em Up was sooooo over the top that i actually liked it also. Crank i have not seen. They seemed cheesy like the last 2 Transporter's, but i'll give em a shot.

I never watched transporter 2, but transporter 3 was just bad. The story was boring, and the action scene were too rare to keep me entertained.

Crank is over the top like Shoot'em Up (actually, a lot more over the top). It's not as good, but if you can turn your brain off, they are awesome movie. Just forget everything you know about the human body and you should be fine.

Heh, Transporter 3 was better than 2, so yeah. I prefer intelligent, well written movies of this kind. Don't really care if there's action or not.

Do not watch Crank or Crank 2.

Crank 1 was sort of okay. Crank 2 was just fucking stupid, it almost felt like a parody of Crank 1.

I'm not sure at which point you started taking Crank seriously, but it's probably where it went wrong.

Lock Stock? You can argue that it wasn't exactly intelligent, but it was pretty well written.

There's a difference between a movie not trying to take it itself seriously and being completely fucking stupid. I enjoyed the first Crank for its over-the-top action, but the second one just went way over with it.

"Completely fucking stupid" is a fine way to describe the intellectual level of Crank 2. I wouldn't dare saying that I felt smarter after watching it.

That said, how can you not laugh at how ridiculous everything is. I seriously don't know. Some scenes annoyed me, but a lot of it (particularly the ending) made me laugh.

Oh I did laugh at parts. Then it got to the part where he just starts groping the granny, and I was like "What the fuck?"

No mention of Snatch? Go watch Snatch. Also, Crank was awesome, do what Kaylia says, turn off your brain and enjoy.

He said with the exception of Guy Ritchie movies. I'm assuming he's already watched them.

Snatch is great, but I assume thats what he meant by Guy Ritchie's movie, since it's probably his best (imo).

Smoking Aces (first one, not 2nd) was kinda enjoyable too, if Snatch is your thing. Not as good, but definitively watchable.

The part at the stadium was the worst, and when I complain about the movie, it's usually what come up first. For the rest, I was laughing more often than not. It's not the well thought kind of hilarious, but still hilarious nonetheless.

Out of curiosity, did you watch the movie with friends and a few beers, or alone? I'm sure it make a difference for that kind of movie.

Yeah, it's definitively not the kind of movie you want to watch with a girl. You need a penis to laugh at that kind of stuff.

Eastern Promises is good, although it's russian mafia in london.

In Bruges was pretty good as well, two english hitmen doing a hit in bruges.

This is England? Well, a movie called This is England at least. And while not a gangster movie really, Trainspotting is a good thing to watch.
