Actually, a fetus does have the capability of emotional response or attachment. It does not display it because it is incapable of rationally acting on them.

So if you are banging your girlfriend and the fetus sucks your dick...is that considered incest? Or does that mean your penis is just REALLY small :/

Iirc, Ohio devised a statute for this mess. They first defined "human being" (self explanatory). Then "being" as possessing a beating heart.

All I can remember from the top of my head and I can't find it to save my life.

I usually read the first post, and *maybe* do a quick browse. I automatically assume people just fling shit around, so I miss it most of the time.

Let's get married and be reckless with the resulting fetuses, because you are my soul mate.

Growth would be the constant replacement of red blood cells or bone tissue. Your red cells develop from a stem cell into a red blood cell, they don't grow - yes. A human being, however, while they can develop into an adult, do not 'develop' into adults on a cellular level. Their cells divide and facilitate growth.

Degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's use your own body's degenerative capabilities (similar to how your body breaks down bone to remake bone) in order to cause this to happen. So yes, you are correct. This same process is a little different in muscle. Your body doesn't break down muscle to make new muscle. Exercise or atrophy breaks down muscle and it is only replaced when the body has a reason to replace it.

But here again, Plow - you don't 'develop' new muscle. You grow new muscle. Muscle cells may develop, but in the general term of development used in relation to a developing organism you are not developing muscle. You are replacing it. The body can only work so fast with the amount of nutrients, enzymes, and cells it contains. The reason why degenerative disorders such as Alzheimer's are so dangerous is because they often break down tissues that cannot be replaced. Liver tissue regenerates. Nerve tissue does not.

In terms of an organism, it has finished developing. If you're talking about human development using a broad term, then you are correct. Human beings never stop developing. If you're talking about humans in terms of the organism made up of cells, they stop 'development' once they become a fetus and from then on out the body is simply growing and reacting normally.

Why else do you think puberty takes so long to onset? It's not because it's a magic time and the body feels right. Social and chemical changes (and even genetic factors) determine when the body is ready to release sufficient levels of hormones to start. Puberty is starting at a younger age these days because of many factors.

I dunno how else to put it. Women develop breasts, but in terms of development the breasts are always there, they just haven't grown yet.
But they're not fully functional breasts... they develop later.

Like, even if they were somehow "big" enough (which doesn't even account for the fact that the a lot of the makeup of the size shifts from fat to glands/ducts) to make milk, they literally don't develop the ability to actually release that milk until puberty.

You obviously have a pretty firm grasp of fetal development, so I really can't tell if it's ignorance or just intentional dishonesty to attempt to say the body "doesn't develop" after the fetal stage and simply grows.

But basically everything you specifically described, most specifically cell differentiation and substitution, occurs throughout the entire life.

A woman doesn't just come out of the womb with a fully functional body capable of producing teeny tiny eggs and teeny tiny babies and teeny tiny bits of milk to feed it with.

    Let alone mental development.

They have the ability they just are not triggered until pregnancy. It has nothing to do with puberty. Puberty increases the amount of breast tissue so milk production can happen on a large scale but the ability to produce milk is there.

    kuronosan was pretty right on.

The actual secretion glands don't develop until puberty.

What you just linked is what can happen and temporarily persist when the mother's hormones create pubescent effects on the baby.

Um did you even read my post or look up what Witches Milk is? (Galactorrhea)

The secretion glands don't suddenly appear at puberty you are born with them. In fact males and females are both born with the secretion glands. The only thing that puberty does is allow for them to become larger and produce more tissue so they can produce larger amounts of milk.

Yes hormones cause witches milk but the milk is coming from *gasp* the secretion glands already present in the babies body. Hormones from the mother are just the triggering factor. Also this is rare but a baby born with a tumor on the right gland will cause unusual hormone levels to be secreted which can cause the same thing so it isn't always the mother and it isn't always caused by puberty.

Again you are confusing development with growth.
