That's the problem. If you dont care about how much or how little everyone else is nuking, it affects everyone. Join a pudding manaburn. If your the top nuker, it will always have you targeted. This is my argument, that with the % mods to m.damage, hate will become even more skewed towards the top nuker than it already is.

It's not going to be all roses, and if career blms dont prepare for it, they're in for a rude wakeup call when this happens.

    * Level sync Wajaom Woodlands Colibri until 73
    * Merit burn the rest of the levels /anon

I haven't found anything quicker yet besides ABs.
Main issue is BST is nearly at the bottom of the ladder for a wanted job, even if you are at a level to be synced at.

Well, I was talking more so for BLM.
For BST, I think I'm going to solo it up in the new areas . Provided SE don't do a Sea on us and make none of them charmable (Wouldn't surprise me).

It's only really crazy if you try to monopolize the zone by doing multiple runs (which of course means having a COR or two try and reset your 2 hours).

My point is it's not something that you can sustain indefinitely. It's awesome for getting a shittonne of EXP up front though. And again, I say bring back the 50k/hour burns in Sea. Tired of getting dicked for EXP on BLM.
There's a reason I said "seasoned" burners. If you're not nearly ready to kill a new wave of mobs by the time everyone gets back from getting their 2H reset(which should take ten minutes, max), you're doing something wrong. A real AB group eclipses the EXP return of anyone any six-relic, Ghorn, outside-healer(etc.) Nyzul party.

And you never got 50k/H in Sea, lol. Elementals never popped quickly enough for that to be a real figure(not to mention, you can still burn there if you know how).

I refuse to believe COR is pure support so I clicked THF. Though my only belief in TH is kill more mobs faster.

Well it's a COR's primary function, so I can see it being a support. Though yeah I'd say COR is a mix of DD/Buffing

I'm leveling blm to 99 first. It was my first 75, and is my LS job.

It's funny that overall, if its hard, the consensus is that no one is going to do it. I guess that means I'll be among a handful of blms @ 99 first. I'm not holding onto hope that SE has any plan to fix blm in exp pts, and i'm already committed that I'll have to solo all the way to 99. AB pts wont work either, unless you want to totally gimp your elemental skill.
You forgot the level increase isn't all at once, but is in fact across 3 stages. So let's assume 80>90>99. This means that you do 5 levels in a few days, then have 2+ months to cap your skills before the cap is raised again. Furthermore, I think you forgot that you can skillup your skills outside of exping, and in fact you seem to have absolutely no clue how fast that is. I leveled my blm legit to 66, then ABed it to 75. Once I hit 75, I had to skill Dark and Elemental. I guarantee you I got them both capped in less time than it would take you to get halfway from 74 to 75. In the end, if you AB BLM, you will not only level faster, but you will also have capped skills before a legit-leveled BLM.

Everyone wants blms @99, but no one wants to do it. We're probably going to have 2 different classes of blms, those that ABed it to 99, and that therefore suck and dont know what the fuck, and thus arent getting omgwtf resists therefore being useless, and wasting a pt spot etc..
and those that did it the legit way. Anyone that goes to manaburn puddings knows that you can easily see the difference between an ah blm, and one that cares, usually measured by 300+dmg per nuke or more.
Hey, I'll admit to this. I want BLM @ 99, but the fact that exping BLM is slower than what I can do 2boxing on my SAM is pretty depressing. I can probably do about 3-4 levels on SAM in the time you'll do 1 level on BLM. In fact, I can set up a party to be something like Blm, Blm, Sam, Brd, Cor, Rdm (or 2 DD and 1 buffer), and tell the blms to /nin and pull with stone, and we'll all hit 99 in half the time that you will, and those blms will even have capped skill from spamming stone1 probably. How does that make you feel? There's a reason we don't want to level a job that's fucking awful for exp gain. Also, unless the game is changing a ton, exping your BLM is not going to get you better gear...Or did you exp in salvage such? (I guess technically you could have worked on JoL sets while leveling in the 70s)

I'm convinced that this trend of seperation among blms will continue to show. The "HOLY SHIT WE NEED YOUR BLM even though I dont have it leveled, therefore I have no way of knowing that you're a shitty blm" way of thinking that you hear LS leaders/officers using will continue to be there. People will continue to need blms, but eventually, as we approach 99, and the way MAB bonuses with regards to the damage forumula works, this seperation will be so obvious that it will appear that Good blms are getting better, and shitty blms are getting worse.

This 300dmg avg difference that we see now may eventually hit 500+ or even 600+. As the damage difference becomes more and more apparent, less people will want to play blm, because no one wants to be continuously reminded that they suck. It's much easier to find the damage in the chatlog and do a direct comparison, than to have to use a parser to compare melee dmg. Yeah, things are situational, but with the way mab works, I cant see it working any other way.
Agree with this, but sadly this is not related to how you level. Quite the opposite actually, I think the ones that are better players and more intelligent won't be going to pudding-esque camps if other options are presented.

I'm really excited that blms should be top nukers again, unless they royally F up scholar again. If blm is your main job, I dont think you'll be too happy with your fellow blms after the update, because you'll be the one dying more, you'll be the one using up that RR pin within 30 minutes of the LS event. I'm not saying blms wont understand hate, and I'm not saying blms should be getting constant praise, but with this seperation in damage that i'm predicting, hate will no longer be a tank pt vs blm pt situation. it will be a tank vs. one blm almost all the time.
You seem to have no grasp of enmity mechanics. Also, it's already like this kinda? The top nukers pull hate, they die or bleed it, eventually others may catch up due to the enmity loss at the top...if you suck so much your VE decays faster than you generate it, you may never pull hate. This is -exactly- how it is now.
As a side note, if damage scales up (which it will), I really hope they adjust their enmity model, at the very least the 10k/10k cap, but past that, the amount of enmity generated by non-damaging abilities.

My other blms in my LS usually nuke as much as I do, but how do you communicate that they're only doing so because they're seeing 70% resists. I think you really have to be a career blm to understand hate. You dont learn hate by soloing pets and rats..

Overall though, yeah it will be fun to get more powerful, but unless you're gimp or your tanks get new hate tools, with the seperation of damage from blms, hate will be even more of an issue. It's my opinion that less and less "Good blm's" will be out there, and those that are will have to work a lot harder to carry on the dead weight of the blms that dont want to even care about the job.

    Thoughts??
Or you have to be able to read and use a web browser. Or be a career black mage I guess (really though, I'm generally scared of people who say "I'm a career ___", they usually don't have the best grasp of the game as a whole, and cling on to what they insist they've seen happen and why it must have happened, rather than logically figure out what's going on).

It isn't "pure support", but as was said, that's the main point of it. Don't get me wrong, I love a cor that does what damage they can, within the bounds of being PRIMARILY support, but in the end, you are primarily support, so suck it up and realize that's the reason your job exists.

Yea, it was 7, maaaaaybe 8k/hr at best. At the time that was pretty good, almost on par with Deco camp tp burn. Would be pretty shitty by todays standards, I can solo more at an empty pudding camp than that.

He probably didn't even have Sea when that camp was more popular.

Reading the discussions in this thread and others is starting to scare me because I realize alot of players here probably understand the game mechanics better than the developers, yet they are the ones raising the cap and expected to properly balance the game at 99. /shiver.

    RDM second definitely.

What elementals? I still remember the update when SE nerfed the respawn rate of the little pet thingies or whatever it was that BLM's killed. I remember some of my friends doing it, where like 8 would pop at once and all get blown away by AoE, then the next volley would kill the next batch etc... kinda like how Marid spawn chigoe (which was also nerfed after BLM's were exploiting it) It's buried somewhere in the past updates, don't much feel like digging it up though.

SE really seems to have it out for manaburns.

WHM first, just because with /SCH I know I'll be able to knock it out fast. Then probably BLM, for fun factor. RDM/COR/SCH won't be hard to level either, but we'll see :3

My random guess is that SE is going to nerf Astral Burns before the level cap update.

and they definitely never change their minds amirite

the thought is just that they might not want us to get to 99 that easily, it was different when you can get a job to 75 in a day without smnburning. maybe they don't care though we just have to wait and see.
