    BG Doctor: Hijama

Hijama is also known as cupping or bloodletting therapy. It is a process of removing blood from the body and it is distinctive from the well-known practice of bloodletting or cupping because Hijama is governed by specific times that it should take place as well as specific points on the body that enhances health, detoxifies the body and builds up immunity. Hereinafter, cupping will be referred to as Hijama.

Hijama is actually an ancient treatment that originated in China thousands of years ago. This therapy was originally known as ‘cupping’ because of the use of the cup as a therapeutic tool. The practitioner pumps air into the cup, either manually or by means of a suction device, to create a vacuum.

Hijama is generally performed by Muslims as it is a form of medicine specifically mentioned and encouraged by the Islamic prophet Muhammad. Among other hadith, it is mentioned in that recorded by Muhammad al-Bukhari (5263) and Muslim ibn al-Hajjaj (2952), saying "The Hijama is among your best remedies" (??? ?? ??????? ?? ???????).

    Procedure
Hijama is normally performed on the head, but can be performed anywhere on the body, often at the site of an ache or pain in order to ease or alleviate it. A more conservative approach[2] warns against over use of cupping and suggests only that six optimal points on the body are all that is required to clean the entire cardiovascular system. The back of the head, two shoulders corresponding to the acupuncture heart position, the tail or small of the back, and the two inner ankles.

The location is first shaved, if necessary, to ensure a tight seal with the cup. The mouth of a cup (metal, glass and plastic cups are generally used, although traditionally horns were used) is placed on the skin at the site chosen for cupping (alternatively leeches can be used). Then a tight seal is created. The old method was to burn a small piece of paper or cotton inside the vessel, so that the mouth of the cup clings to the skin. The new procedure is to use a machine instead. The cup is left to cling to the skin for a few minutes, then it is lifted off and a couple of very small incisions are made in the skin. The cup is then put back as it was before until it is filled with blood.[citation needed]

    Benefits
Hijama has stimulating and strengthening effects so it successfully treats the following conditions: constipation and diarrhea, headaches, back pain, arthritis, period pain, injuries, asthma, cellulite, fatigue, anemia, depression and emotional problems, atrophy, sciatica, common cold and flu, skin problems, weight loss and much more.

Even though Hijama is a very simple procedure, it has dramatic effects. Our health and well-being are tied up with the immune system and are totally dependent on the flow of blood and Qi (energy) and body fluids like hormones and lymphatic fluid. Traditional medicine tells us that all pain is due to stagnation of these
symptoms. The cups used in Hijama have a wonderful pulling power and this is a dramatic technique in reducing pain and enhancing the feeling of well-being.

anyone tried it? its getting popular in the west.

It's been known to work, I've read up on it most "patients" claim it to be relatively painless despite the use of needles. I myself have never opted to use this form of treatment, most places here on the east coast simply don't offer it. Downside, this is America, we're gonna prescribe you some anti-biotics for the symptoms stated below and make money off you lol. Which sucks for holistic medicine because alot of those techniques have been proven to work and have been used by the Chinese for centuries(funny thing is, were just touching on this stuff now) lol.

Not that I'm naive enough to try and refute that we get ripped off regularly, but If it were proven to work, we'd be using it in America. Alternative medicine is alternative for a very, very good reason.

Hate to take away from an almost valid point, but why do you think they tend to live 10-25 years longer than the average American lol?

Are you honestly chalking the average American lifespan up to inadequate medicine? Adequate medicine is the only thing that keeps the dumb fucks in this country alive for so long.

This is a great way to develop anemia, I find it hilarious as a cure for "Fatigue" in particular... considering the direct result of this type of treatment is...fatigue!(due to loss of blood iron, which takes a lot longer to replace than just blood).

Or, you know, you could just go donate blood and achieve physiologically the same result.

    If abused, it sure can.

That and murder/car accidents and other miscellaneous ways of death. You're also forgetting, "adequate medicine" is also a leading cause of death as well. From violent allergic reactions to overdosing, I'm not saying "hey put down your blood pressure meds and pick up tea" by any means. Just saying "some" holistic medicine is better than what we use today.

I also wouldn't trust ancient secrets from a country that practices feng shui and was big into astrology. Tradition seems to trump evidence for this kind of stuff

Infant mortality, overall pollution in indrustrial areas and other problems related to the lack of resources plays an important factor there.

Life expectancy doesn't prove or disprove much.
