Random Question Thread VIII: Wait, There's a Sticky?

So I'm a new 75 Sam. My accuracy is horrible, and my WSs are shitty.
Here's results from a party from yesterday(one bard gave minuets), all polearm(and I capped it with 2 merits at the time of fighting):

Even though my WS were pretty lol, I did outparse everyone(really had no idea we were shuffling people, the dude in 2nd stayed as long as I stayed).

Now today, at first I was using polearm, but then I noticed a bunch of us using GK, and mine isn't capped(and it's also lolWindslicer), so I just went full GK in this parse(was the latter half of our party), and this was a Bard who only marched us:

Again, I'm about 30 GK skill from cap, but I out TP one dude, and almost got another. Bad WSs are really punishing me. The parse winner is using that 100% Zanshin GK, so even when we were polearming, he was giving us the bidness.

Help me not suck. Should I just be patient until I finish merits, or is there some gear I'm overlooking('sides Usu Feet, Askar Body, Askar Head, Ace's Helm) that I need to get like tomorrow?

At this point, it's really not terrible WS's that are killing you, it's that generally terribad accuracy. As stated, spam sushi with polearm, which again does need to be Engetsuto or Tomoe. Cuchulain's mantle, an accuracy +7 ring, haubergeon+1, and maybe even peacock charm for TP at this point. Until you are capping accuracy (or very close) you're not helping yourself with all this +attack.

Love halberd is acceptable, but iron ram lance is wtf.. Engetsuto is a good AH option, with Tomoe being end goal typically.

I'm really having a hard time accepting Engetsuto UNTIL I get those few store tp merits that allow me to 6-hit, which I imagine is the reason y'all push that. I feel what other guy is saying, but as you can see, 70% accuracy is winning parses. Now, until I get my Sam much better, I won't bother gimping my ls events with my "OMG NEW 75."

COR in Merit PTs. Assume 8/8 dagger merits and 0 sword merits possible due to capped skills. What is better, Joyeuse or Merc. Kris? Assume I have both and ignore the cost/ease of obtaining. If it depends on subjob, let me know what you think.

I'm assuming Kris would probably win out on birds, especially due to the dagger merits. But what about Mamool? Joyeuse seems to be the general consensus but with an extra 16 skill in dagger and 0 in sword, I wonder.

Yeah, I realize this might be one of those things I just need to test myself.

Mkris if there is a full accuracy difference, Joyeuse if not with 8 Dagger merits and 0 Sword merits.

Full accuracy difference meaning that you don't "lose" some accuracy penalty by one hitting >95% etc.

Honestly it was just an experiment, seeing if more interruption rate down was any help... I had a bad experience with my first byakko....

As for TP, no I don't have a swift belt, but I don't use virtuoso unless I absolutely need the accuracy. Otherwise headlong is what I use (it was important enough to me that I bought it when it was still 350k). I've tried multiple times to do swift belt runs and have gotten screwed over, I have a codex and full fomor hate, just waiting for June to roll around so I can go solo the damn thing. Won't get it any other way. We even had an organized LS event for swift belts for the few who didn't have them, and just because the majority did, no one showed up.

Just curious, did you ask if those other sams had overwhelm merits? My weapon skills were considerably higher at bird camp, and I don't even have a fantastic WS set. Or double attack grip sadly, thanks to not having rajas......

Anyways I agree food is probably the greatest improvement you can make. Although it gets expensive when you have hate a lot. I like to use squid because it has a good amount of accuracy+, and DEX as well.

And no Steven, nobody except the 100% Zanshin guy made me want to know what their gear is like, and he's a massive RMT for the gear he has. I mean, I know I will do Overwhelm, so I'll see what I do when I get it.

Hmm. I have full overwhelm and GK, and 2 str merits though, probably my case. I think once you get your GK skill capped and fully merited, the extra attack will help get your ws's up there, then overwhelm will just build further on that.

Honestly the only thing you really need to do is fully merit store TP to make your SAM worthy of probably any event you'll consider going melee DD to, that and get a Hagun. (Which you might already have, maybe just using Windslicer to break for Rana?)

Having trouble finding the answer to this, has it been confirmed if server merges will lock a character out of transferring again until 90days have passed or not?

It shouldn't, the two are completely independent. Though, transfers are locked a while before and after the merges.

It's done a seperate way, you can change it to a gaze with dat swaps and run during it, but if someone GMs you for it it's kinda obvious in log. Realistically, suck it up.

-Damage output

Farming: Depends what you're farming. I can imagine scenarios for any of these 3 jobs. Each of these 3 jobs has things that they can solo but the other 2 cannot solo.

Endgame: SAM or BLM depending on what your shell is lacking.

DMG: SAM of course.
