SMN burn question:
I don't have access to an alt character anymore so I pull on SCH then swap to a leech job or SMN to get EXP. I've never died doing this this way before until tonight. I went with some group who was telling me to die before I came back, so I went on a lv1 job, died, and came back SMN. We were getting ready to burn when one of the SMNs did Corsair's Roll and instantly died. One of the leechers died, and I did on SMN as well. However; the other two SMNs were able to summon Carby, release, and come out hate-free.
What's the reason behind this?
Anyone know of an update to (or replacement for) the FFXI Cartography v1.01 on Emiko's LJ?
To be exact, no one has tested this (which was what the OP asked) unless there was a forced server transfer before. (Voluntary transfers do not necessarily follow the same logic since the mass transfers are clearly not being done the way they are done by users. They are likely bypassing a lot of code which is one reason this is being planned and why character creation / moves was halted for so long.)
Mass is probably correct that this will work, but what you are asking is exactly how name conflicts are determined and resolved.
E.g., if the name conflict code looks at the point of the transfer and requires a name change for resolution before character login and does not re-examine conflicts after POL login is one method, or if the name conflict code looks AFTER the transfer and AFTER POL login is another method. In the first case, regardless of what mules were deleted, the 'flag' to require name change would not be reset, because there was no code to do that. (This is not like character creation where name conflicts are examined before new character login because in this above case the character already exists.)
Program code could be either and would have been somewhat uninteresting at the time it was written to specify a particular choice.

what are my odds at beating maat on 66 rdm? all the wiki guides say use aero3 at 68 but i really am not interesed in rdm so much. 8 eleskill merits, 1 enfeeb merit. basically how will stone3 do on maat, and assuming no ele/enfeeb/spider torque (i am cheap but can buy if need be). the idea of nuking with terra's sounds good but no idea how well stone3 does damage-wise. in fact i cant remember having cast stone spells on anything, ever. thanks
Dumb question, but do all my stuff I stored with an NPC like my salvage pieces, Nyzul Isle weapons, and AF carry over when the server merge happens on Monday?
there is no way they'd clear our your stored AF, so i'm sure everything will be safe
There is no way to get the Triggers to work, you will just need to bump the macro pallets to R1/L1
2 things i got rid of was First Person View and Hide Menu's go to the FFXI Gamepad Config Tool in the FFXI config in your POL Directory, you can set your buttons and test them until you find a config that works for you
I went 1/1 on it, and honestly it wasn't even close to the most difficult Maat fight. I did have pretty much the best possible gear, but only 6 elemental and 2 enfeebling (and forgot to use my INT potion). Sleep/nuke, let him doze during his CS, sleep/nuke. Overkill on meds isn't a bad idea, either. I suppose I may have gotten somewhat lucky in his choice of spells, but I think he did try to paralyze me at least once.
Back before the rewards for various mazes changed, people used to do V01 with severe handicaps (no JA/magic, less time, more mobs) and go in accompanied by a level 1 mule to farm marbles, easily tearing through the mobs with 75s. It's just to increase the marble reward, basically. It's probably not used much these days; certainly not with V05, and probably not with V06 either (IIRC most people use one of these to farm marbles).
I wouldn't use Trial by Silence in MMM Appropriation Team but I guess you could use Amnesiac's Trial if you want bonus points.
